Intake and Placement Supervisor (Dallas)

Position Summary 

The Intake and Placement Supervisor will require specialized knowledge in the placement of children. The position interacts with the Intake and Placement team while demonstrating knowledge with placement applications related to standards of foster care and residential placements. The Supervisor will communicate the ability to work with youth, families, collaborating agencies, community professionals, and Texas Family Care Network staff.  

Responsibilities 

1. Support/Service Delivery
   
   
   
   1. Ensures child assessment tools are properly used to correctly evaluate children referred to the Agency for placement or services.
   
   
   2. Examines Minimum Standards for various types of placement resources.
   
   
   3. Monitors and reviews placements made by Intake and Placement Specialists to ensure placement outcome goals.   
   
   
   4. Participates in other administrative and planning meetings as needed to facilitate referral and placement.     
   
   
   5. Learns the background of the family and child/youth on each case to strategize how best to support them. 
   
   
   6. Ensures quantified and measurable data is used during the child assessment phase to make appropriate decisions regarding the type and level of placement for the child.    
   
   
   7. Identifies location options for parent-child visits that facilitates and enhances meaningful connections between children and parents.  
   
   
   8. Develops the transportation schedule efficiently to better serve clients and team members.  
   
   
   9. Participates in supervisor on-call rotation and duties.  
   
   
   10. Ability to work independently to meet placement deadlines and job performance.  
   
   
   11. Completes other duties as assigned by the Director of Intake and Placement.

   1. Identifies more efficient ways to locate and secure placements.  
   
   
   2. Finds bottlenecks in processes and collaborates with Quality and Compliance  to improve  them.

   1. Communicates regularly with Director of Intake and Placement to address appropriate issues when necessary.
   
   
   2. Uses foresight in communicating with the community providers regarding placements to foster a positive working relationship for future placements and exceptional care discussions.

   1. Receive supervision. 
      
      
      
      1. Receive supervision from and actively communicate with supervisor on an ongoing basis throughout the week by phone, email, written message and when possible, in person regarding program matters.

      1. Supervise staff directly or their supervisors depending upon the personnel actions including action plans, hiring, terminations, recruitment, vacation and sick day requests.  Ensures that program staffing is qualified and provides continued safety of children served with high rates of success/program completion.

   1. Provides regular and consistent support/supervision to Intake Specialists and provides opportunities for the professional development of assigned staff.  
   
   
   2. Participates in supervision meetings as directed/required by the Director of Intake and Placement.

   4. Excellent training skills, program development, and strong leadership along with mentoring/coaching abilities.

   1. Works collaboratively with other systems (education, health and justice systems) to improve outcomes for the child/youth and family.
   
   
   2. Engages with Youth for Tomorrow for levels of care and CANS to meet children’s needs while in placement.
   
   
   3. Maintains a close working relationship with public and private agencies involved in providing services to support children and families.
   
   
   4. Provides program and agency information and/or makes referrals to other community resources.
   
   
   5. Participates in meetings with collaborating partners and agencies.
   
   
   
   


7. Documentation
   
   
   
   1. Ensures an accurate system of identifying available resources to satisfy youth’s placements is maintained by the Agency.
   
   
   2. Ensures accuracy and timeliness of data entered into systems, ensure that all relevant information exists in their records (e.g. client, family, employee, billing, etc.).
   
   
   3. Completes appropriate forms and documentation concerning client contact including data entry into CoBris, IMPACT and other technology/case management systems.
   
   
   4. Reviews case documentation on a regular schedule to monitor compliance.  
   
   
   
   


8. Financial/Budget
   
   
   
   1. Reports expenses and provides supporting documentation.  
   
   
   2. Adheres to deadlines for submitting and approving expense reports.

   1. Promotes safety and encourages the least-restrictive and shortest length of out-of-home placement for children.  
   
   
   2. Assures all policies, procedures, and standards relating to child safety and well-being are followed.  
   
   
   3. Adheres to mandated child abuse reporting laws.  
   
   
   4. Follows policies and procedures for responding to and handling a crisis.  
   
   
   5. Completes online learning and policy acknowledgements by due date.  
   
   
   6. Attends and participates in all required trainings.   
   
   
   
   

Qualifications 

1. Education/Credentials/Licensure:
   
   
   
   1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field. 
   
   
   2. Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record. 
   
   
   3. Reliable transportation and current auto insurance.
   
   
   
   


2. Experience: 
   
   
   
   1. Three (3) years of relevant experience in child welfare including knowledge of issues surrounding foster care, adoption, trauma, medical and developmental needs, and the importance of legal permanency. 
   
   
   2. Familiarity with state child welfare rules and procedures and the juvenile and/or probate court systems.

Working Conditions 

1. Physical Demands
   
   
   
   1. This position requires operating a keypad device 75% of the day and electronic/office equipment 25% of the day. Frequent travel in and out of the state of Texas may be required daily along with travel by plane and may include travel in weather conditions - 20%. Fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists, elbows, legs and feet are all routinely used throughout the day. The lower and upper torso is used 75% of the day. Employee must meet minimum requirements for hearing, speech, and vision. Walking is required 25% of the day. Standing occurs 25% of the day. Sitting happens 75% of the day. Reaching above the shoulder as well as bending and twisting are performed 25% of the day. This function routinely lifts under 25 pounds. The maximum lift is 50 pounds, 1 time per day.
