Summary


The Bilingual Intake Specialist talks with pregnant individuals and families with young children, including those with developmental delays and disabilities, to explain services they may be eligible for and connect them to Early Intervention, Home Visiting, and other services as part of the Help Me Grow system of supports. The Bilingual Intake Specialist answers phones, processes referrals, gathers information to help determine referral and/or program eligibility, and assigns referrals while creating records according to departmental guidelines. The Bilingual Intake Specialist serves English and Spanish-speaking families and provides and clarifies information to families in their native language.



Experience Requirements (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities)


Requires:


1. Speaks and writes fluently in Spanish and English.  Bilingual skills required.


2. Minimum of two years of customer service experience.


3. Minimum of one year working in a fast-paced, real-time data entry environment.


4. Basic skill level in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., word processing), email applications, and internet usage. Intermediate skill level preferred.      


5. Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro and FileMaker Pro preferred.


6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment in handling information and records.


7. Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments.


8. Ability to establish and maintain a comprehensive record-keeping system and office procedures.


9. Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.


10. Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with the public, staff, and patrons in a friendly and professional manner.


11. Ability to work independently with general direction.


12. Data entry and keyboarding at 35 words per minute.


13. Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills.



Education/License Requirements


High School Diploma or equivalent.


Associate Degree preferred.
