Who We Serve
North Bay Regional Center provides advocacy, services, support, and care coordination to children and adults diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties. We partner with community-based organizations and agencies to empower our clients to thrive and live as independently as possible within the geographically, culturally, and ethnically diverse communities we serve.
North Bay Regional Center is a nonprofit private corporation that contracts with the Department of Developmental Services to coordinate services and support for individuals with developmental disabilities. At NBRC, we’re promoting opportunities by supporting choices for people with developmental disabilities.
North Bay Regional Center serves over 12,000 people living within the geographic boundaries of Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties. Guided by our NBRC Mission and Values to assist people with developmental disabilities to obtain the services and support needed to live as others do in the community, NBRC has established Strategic Goals to guide our efforts in focused areas: employment, independence, community access and family supports.
Note: Bilingual Spanish/English skills are preferred.
DEFINITION:
Supervises the Intake functions at NBRC for Solano, Napa, and Sonoma counties.
NATURE OF WORK:
Under the general direction of the Intake Department Manager, the Intake Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Intake referral process and assisting with eligibility determinations by organizing and coordinating the Intake responsibilities performed by the Assessment Counselors and Intake support staff.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Oversees the Intake referral process and eligibility determination process for NBRC. Performs formal and informal performance evaluations of Intake Unit in collaboration with the Intake Department Manager; provides supervision to Assessment Counselors and Intake support staff; reviews applicants to determine appropriateness of referrals; assigns new intakes to Assessment Counselors; monitors Intake Unit activities and assists, supports and trains as required to ensure the integrity of the Intake process; conducts periodic and continual review of cases and documentation with Intake Unit members; tracks Intake data; conducts meetings, including weekly eligibility meetings; participates in community education events and staff training as needed, provides reports and presentations to DDS, community partners, and in public presentations; participates in selection and hiring of Intake Unit and other NBRC staff.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of a Master’s Degree in a field which offers content related to developmental disabilities, such as social work, psychology or nursing; three years of paid experience after the degree, at least one of which is in the field of developmental services and two years of supervisory experience in a specialty field.
OR
Bachelor’s degree and at least two years’ experience in another relevant professional position at North Bay Regional Center.
Minimum qualifications may be waived depending on the agency’s need for specialized skills (such as language abilities).
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to eligibility; ability to interpret and apply a variety of legal requirements and policy standards; ability to plan, schedule and supervise the work of others, and to evaluate performance; ability to formulate the establishment of objectives designed to effectively achieve stated goals; ability to prepare or supervise the preparation of statistical and narrative reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, community representatives, and others; knowledge of the interdisciplinary process. Possession of narrative writing skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Fluency in a language in addition to English is desirable and may be required.
· Ability to provide personal automobile transportation, or access to another form of reliable transportation, during and after working hours.
· Must be able to regularly travel to all NBRC offices within catchment area to provide support and oversight to assigned staff members.
· Provide minimum automobile liability insurance as required by California Law.
· Flexibility in work hours is required to meet the needs of the regional center constituency.
· This position will be primarily based in the office, however, hybrid work may also be available.
