Intensive Needs Dorm Manager

SUMMARY: With supervision, assumes responsibility for the daily operation of a residential cottage program.

ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

Essential Functions:

1. Manages human, fiscal and material resources within dorm/cottage.

2. Ensures programs are implemented and data collected as committed in IEP’s.

3. Supports, trains and develops staff.

4. Completes performance appraisals on staff.

5. Ensures cross shift management, coverage, and consistency of programs.

6. Ensures students' residential IEP compliance (attend meetings, write goals/objectives and progress reports, input into electronic IEP system.)

7. Ability to push and pull in excess of 100 pounds, and to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Marginal Functions:

1. Performs additional duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS:

Equipment Used: Computer, multiline telephone, fax, copy machine, pager, cell phone, and calculator.

Performance Standard: Will assure 100% commitment to the integration, coordination, and implementation of

student programs, and compliance with supervision, health, and safety standards.

Work Environment: Multiple indoor and outdoor environments with a variety of sound, lighting, and temperature

conditions. May be exposed to childhood & other communicable diseases, and behavioral outbursts.

Work Schedule: 40 afternoon/evening hours, Monday Through Friday; flextime within the work day, work week and during times when school is not in session is frequently required. This position follows the standard 11 month school schedule.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, skills and general abilities:

1. Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. In lieu of degree, applicants with 3-5 years of related residential experience and a current RCYCP certification may be considered, contingent upon enrollment in a higher degree program within 6 months of employment.

2. 1-3 years of experience leading staff in a residential program.

4 Comprehensive knowledge of residential care theory and practice, and its application to educating and training students with multiple disabilities and visual impairments including blindness.

5. Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety standards as applied to residential programs and facilities.

After six months in this position, the employee is required to have:

1. Certification in CPR & first aid

2. Completion of TCI. 

1. Residential Child and Youth Care      Practitioner Certification.
