ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
● Serves as the office point of contact to district representatives, public officials and staff in all relevant branches of government.
● Keeps the Treasurer and Chief Deputy Treasurer advised on all matters relating to legislative and regulatory matters as appropriate.
● Evaluates, researches and analyzes ordinances, resolutions, legal and policy reviews and other issues.
● Develops communications programs to effectively provide public outreach and public education matters on behalf of the Treasurer’s Office.
● Coordinates responses to media inquiries as appropriate.
● Develops communication tools including fact sheets, newsletters, brochures, articles, reports, news releases and social media that advance the public information program’s goals.
● Tracks and responds to constituent inquiries and casework on behalf of the Treasurer.
● Participates and represents the Treasurer on behalf of the Treasurer’s Office before local legislative bodies, committees, taskforces, workgroups and related groups reporting on items of interest.
● May prepare, balance and submit departmental payroll, including calculating and processing overtime, out-of-class pay, contract settlements, retroactive pay, etc.; reconcile payroll registers with Auditor’s department; maintain departmental payroll records, including records of leave usage, overtime and hours worked.
● May initiate, prepare and ensure the accuracy of hard copy and electronic Personnel Action forms for new hires, salary increases, transfers, promotions, disciplinary action, terminations, retirements, and resignations.
● May prepare, review and submit payment vouchers, purchase orders, etc.
● Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, Public Policy or related discipline, and
● Two (2) years of relevant work experience in the public sector. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
● Knowledge of public information strategy and the principles and methods used in the preparation of public information materials.
● Knowledge of methods of determining needs for public information and education.
● Knowledge of Treasurer’s Office services and programs.
● Knowledge of public administration practices.
● Knowledge of public policy research and development.
● Skilled in the use of computers and related software applications including Microsoft Office Suite and graphic design software.
● Skilled in communicating effectively both orally and in writing, sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.
● Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with supervisors and coworkers, personnel from other County departments, various community organizations, municipalities, agencies, and the public.
● Skilled in persuasive and informative writing.
● Skilled in articulating information and strategies.
● Skilled in public speaking.
● Ability to effectively multi-task to produce high quality work while meeting deadlines.
● Ability to handle potentially stressful situations and respond appropriately.
● Ability to produce written correspondence for internal and external distribution.
● Ability to maintain strict office confidentiality.

Total Compensation:
$89,784 - $125,654 AnnuallyTotal compensation is an estimate based upon base compensation, median retirement fund contributions, and current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates (including medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability, and leave). The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment choices.
