The Interim Development Director (DD) collaborates with the Executive Director (ED) in helping to oversee various aspects of fundraising, marketing, and partnership initiatives involving the agency. Throughout the community, this person possesses a welcoming, positive, and friendly attitude. Alongside the Leadership Team (LT), this individual will represent DAWN and the agency’s promotion at various events to raise awareness and support for individuals whose lives have been impacted by domestic violence. The DD must maintain client confidentiality yet be able to share client stories in a way that connects with donors and other community stakeholders. The DD will support third party fundraisers, build new business partnerships and solicit support for DAWN throughout the community to include volunteers, in-kind and cash donations. The DD is a part of the Leadership Team and will be involved in all-team and leadership meetings. The DD is responsible for managing events and growing the donor base.

Donor Relations/Fundraising:
Develop and lead an annual fund program that increases donor engagement, donor retention and dollars raised through sponsorships.
Direct solicitation of individual and community gifts.
Lead donor stewardship and solicitation activities for corporate donors and individual donors, connecting leads with the ED and the Fundraising Committee where appropriate.
Grow Monthly Giving initiatives.
Supports the team in procurement and organization of event in-kind
Lead and organize workplace giving initiatives.
Marketing/Communications
Develops and drives mission, stories, and other marketing content to support campaigns and engage community in awareness campaigns.
Produce quarterly e-newsletter in Constant Contact.
Events/Outreach
Assists in event planning, promotion, and execution, including ensuring event and community activities are photographed.
Plans and executes fundraising Purple Lights Nights events and works closely with Fundraising Committee and PLN committee to ensure success.
Presents to various groups, stakeholders and donors in order to foster support throughout the community.
Host and conduct monthly Tours at Gowe as entry points for potential and current donors with the aim of presenting an ask.
Administration
Record and report in-kind goods and services.
Maintains records regarding donors and fundraising efforts in Bloomerang.
Creates personal gift acknowledgements working with ED and Fundraising Committee to ensure proper timely thank yous.
Works with Finance Director and ED to track fundraising budget, expense and revenue.
Assist with Grant writing particularly for sponsorships and corporate support.

Demonstrate excellent written communication skills.
Proficiency in data collection and reporting. Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Bloomerang or ability to quickly learn tools.
Working knowledge of CANVA or other design software
Knowledge with Greater Giving software a plus
Knowledge of marketing using social media platforms.
Willing and able to pass a background
Must speak and write English proficiently (fluently).
Physical Abilities:
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, kneel, and twist on an intermittent basis including answering the front
Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files and reach
Physically able to walk or run if needed, climb stairs without
Ability to lift and carry at 60 pounds.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or 3 years’ professional experience in lieu of degree in nonprofit work.
2 years experience in Development/Fundraising or Sales.
Demonstrated ability to secure news funds and start new fundraising initiatives.
Experience planning and executing successful fundraising events.
Experience public speaking and outreach.
Must provide own transportation; possess a valid Washington State driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and a clean driving
Must be able to pass Washington State criminal background

Located in south King County, DAWN focuses its resources and expertise on empowering families and communities to be free from violence. We serve about 5,000 duplicated survivors of domestic violence each year in our programs. Our Center for Peaceful Communities located in downtown Kent offers an environment for clients to feel safe as they seek our services. In addition, our training facility provides education, ongoing support, and opportunities for those interested in more peaceful communities.
