Job Description - Interim Director of Financial Aid

The Interim Director of Financial Aid will be responsible for leading and managing the financial aid operations of the institution during a transitional period. This position involves overseeing the administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs while ensuring compliance with regulations and policies. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in fostering a supportive environment for students by providing guidance on financial aid options and maximizing resources to meet their needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the financial aid office, including staff supervision and development.
  • Oversee the administration of federal, state, and institutional aid programs, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance service delivery and promote efficient processing of financial aid applications.
  • Provide guidance and support to students and families regarding financial aid options, eligibility requirements, and the application process.
  • Collaborate with various departments to support enrollment goals and facilitate communication regarding financial aid strategies.
  • Monitor financial aid budgets and prepare reports on aid distributions and student borrowing trends.
  • Serve as a liaison with federal and state agencies, auditors, and other stakeholders regarding financial aid matters.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff and stakeholders on financial aid processes and updates.
  • Master's degree in education, finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in financial aid administration, with leadership experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and compliance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Proficient in using financial aid software and data management systems.
  • Experience in training and mentoring staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
