INTERN - Software Design Engineer - Collaborative Environment

Job Summary: Work as part of a team to develop modern full stack software applications using Java Spring Boot, React, Angular and equivalent JavaScript libraries. Support the development and Integration of infrastructure as code and automation software into fully functional production applications.

Essential Job Functions:

• Work through an agile based full-cycle development that includes requirements analysis, design, & implementation.
• Motivated DevOps software development team member.
• Apply software engineering standards and assist the engineering team in software system or subsystem development and documentation efforts.
• Understands and adheres to project schedules and stays within established budgets.
• Efficiently diagnose and debug front-end and back-end software issues.
• Clearly and effectively communicate problems and solutions with the team, both verbally and electronically.

Required Skills:

• Ability to work as a member of a technical team to complete complex software and systems projects.
• A strong interest and curiosity in software and IT related technologies
• Ability to work part time while continuing to perform strongly in course work leading towards a software or IT related degree.
• Proficiency in any modern programming language (JAVA, C++, etc.)

Knowledge in any of the following areas would be considered a plus:

• Experience with containerization of applications
• Experience with back-end development, including node.js, web servers (Nginx, Apache, etc.), database servers, etc.
• Agile development
• Modern software planning and release applications (Jira, Git, etc.)
• Database design

Required Education/Experience:

• Ability to work as a member of a technical team to complete complex software and systems projects
• A strong interest and curiosity in software and IT related technologies
• Ability to work part time while continuing to perform strongly in course work leading towards a software or IT related degree.

Other Requirements: Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U. S. Citizenship status with ability to obtain a SECRET to TOP SECRET security clearance. Security Clearance requirements will be specified in the Government's Task Order.
