Description

Position Summary

Audit Strategy & Planning

  • Own and continuously refine the risk-based annual audit plan, aligning audit focus with the company's most significant financial, operational, and compliance risks.

  • Directly assess emerging risks across the business new systems, entities, or processes and translate them into scoped audit engagements and testing priorities.

Audit Execution & Leadership

  • Personally lead and participate in the organization's most complex, highest-risk audit engagements, testing controls hands-on where needed and ensuring rigor across the team's work.

  • Review and approve audit workpapers, findings, and reports before they reach leadership, ensuring conclusions are well-supported, well-documented, and actionable.

  • Own the company's SOX compliance program end to end, from scoping and testing through remediation tracking.

Team & Resource Management

Risk & Compliance Leadership

  • Report audit findings, risk trends, and remediation progress directly to senior leadership, translating technical audit results into business-relevant insight.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors on internal control matters, working through open items directly rather than delegating.

  • Champion a proactive, risk-aware culture across the organization, partnering with business leaders to strengthen controls at the source.

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CIA designation preferred.

  • 10-15 years of internal audit experience, including experience leading audit engagements and managing outside/co-sourced audit resources.

  • In-depth knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO) and risk and compliance practices.

  • Hands-on experience with ERP/financial systems and audit tools.

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Experience managing or mentoring audit staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Big 4 public accounting or relevant corporate audit leadership experience.

  • Familiarity with multi-entity environments and SOX compliance.

  • Experience building or maturing an internal audit function in a growing organization.
