At Living Optics, we build hyperspectral cameras. Our devices access information invisible to human eyes and conventional cameras and allow our customers to do a whole range of things more efficiently from sorting plastics to detecting greenhouse gases and tumours.

 

We’re at the stage where our hard work developing our camera is shifting to supporting our customers using our camera so you will be joining a dedicated team with a broad range of experiences and backgrounds who love a technical challenge. You will have an impact on our product, our team and our customers. Last year we ran our first Intern programme and it was a great success so we’re thrilled to be doing it again this year.

We have 3 intern opportunities up for grabs. You will be a final year Masters student or in a subject which has some focus on Business Administration or Marketing / Publishing. You might be keen to get some real-life experience of what it is like to work in a deep tech start-up as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.  

 

You will take on real responsibilities whilst receiving support, guidance and mentorship. Depending on your degree discipline and your appetite for learning you might be involved in some of these activities: 

• Contribute to technical marketing documents, internal process documents and governance 
• Create and share updates with the team and our stakeholders to raise awareness of the exciting things that are taking place across the team.  
• Work alongside our marketing team to create content which will engage with our potential and existing customers. 
• Be involved in the planning and delivery of our onsite events (e.g. team building sessions, Board meetings, customer visits).  
• Review and give us feedback on some of our administrative and operational processes and make recommendations for how we might work more effectively and efficiently. 

 

Salary and benefits

Economic factors can get in the way of opportunity for enthusiastic and talented people so we pay our interns a salary and we also offer financial support so they can be within commuting distance of our HQ in Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

 

·       £26,000 pro rata

·       Access to our fully stocked kitchen whilst onsite

·       Complimentary team lunches 2 days per week

·       Financial support with travel and accommodation to enable onsite working

Location and Commitments

·       Onsite at our Oxfordshire HQ (Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxford. OX14 4RY).

·       Full-time but we can accommodate when life means you might need some flexibility.

·       Temporary: Up to 12 weeks, flexible dates between June – September 2024.
