Interstate Maintenance Operator

GovFirst is seeking to hire multiple Interstate Maintenance Operators to support highway maintenance and repair activities in various locations across Virginia which includes Bristol, Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads, Norfolk, Newport News, Suffolk, Surry, Salem, Lynchburg, Staunton, Culpeper & Richmond, VA within the Transportation Operations Division. These operators will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment used in highway repair and maintenance, as well as performing physically demanding tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Highway Maintenance Operations

• Operate and maintain light, medium, and heavy-duty highway maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  

• Perform heavy manual labor tasks including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds over a distance of 50 yards.
  

Safety & Procedures

• Follow oral and written instructions clearly and adhere to safety protocols and procedures while on the job.
  

• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other personnel both orally and in writing.
  

Equipment Maintenance

• Assist in maintaining highway maintenance equipment and tools to ensure proper operation and service readiness.

Requirements

• Knowledge of highway maintenance equipment, materials, methods, and procedures.
  

• Skilled in the operation and maintenance of a variety of highway maintenance machinery.
  

• Able to perform physically demanding tasks as required.
  

• A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
  

• Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  

• Strong communication skills in both verbal and written formats.
