Purpose of the role

The role of the Intervention Coordinator is to inspire, empower and enrich the lives of students and families. Under the guidance of the Health Director, the Intervention Coordinator aims to support the team in providing inclusive and developmentally appropriate services to children, youth, and families that participate in the OYC program. This role will involve coaching and training other staff in this area. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Collaborate      with OYC Miami Program Coordinators, Teachers, and other program staff on      creating and maintaining inclusive classroom spaces for OYC Miami      Programming (e.g., behavior management charts, visual communication cards,      feelings charts, sensory toy/fidget kits, resource binders with behavior      contracts/monitoring tools, etc.)
  • Conduct      in-school rotation/visits at each program site to assist OYC Miami Program      Coordinators/team with classroom observations and lunch time monitoring in      order to provide coaching and support to the team member as it relates to      the social emotional and behavioral needs of students in their caseload
  • Coach and      train staff in best practice intervention strategies for managing      challenging behavior and addressing needs of children with unique      abilities
  • Develop and      implement individualized intervention plans for students to receive      counseling and coaching services during programming based on social      emotional and behavioral needs of that student 
  • Develop and      maintain relationships with Principals, School Administrators, Counselors,      and Inclusions Specialists at each program site
  • Collaborate      with community partners in connecting students and families with mental      health services, care coordination services, advocacy services, and other      related services based upon needs identified 
  • Document      observations and interventions specific to a student/family through a case      note in the client’s record and other documentation methods as needed
  • Develop and      maintain an intervention resource library for Program Coordinators /      direct service staff that includes intervention tools and informational      resources that can be utilized with children and/or families of children      with challenging behavior, mental health challenges, or unique abilities
  • Facilitate      social emotional wellness, group sessions for students during programming (e.g.,      psychoeducational workshops and/or support groups in collaboration with      mental health partners)
  • Assist in      ensuring that incident reports are completed and submitted by program team      within 24 hours to the Director of Program Operations and Chief Programs      Officer
  • Serve as a      resource for staff for problem-solving and crisis intervention
  • Participate in      case staffing/team meetings as scheduled
  • Facilitate      and/or participate in Family Meetings to address student concerns as      needed
  • Provide case      coordination services (information, plan referral and linkages) as needed 
  • Coordinate      services for students/families with other professionals and      paraprofessionals
  • Act as a      liaison with the schools served by OYC
  • Assist with      the development and implementation of curriculum and special projects. 
  • Actively      participate in staff development workshops and trainings that are designed      to contribute to personal and professional growth
  • Develop and      maintain a safe, supportive, and fun learning environment in which      students thrive

Program Fidelity

  • Assist OYC Miami Leadership Team in maintaining program fidelity 
  • Obtain DCF credentialing within the required timeframe
  • Assist to ensure that students enrolled in programming are 100% in compliance with OYC program requirements.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in social services 
  • At least 4 to 6 years’ experience working with youth programs required 
  • Basic computer skills / Microsoft Office 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation 
  • Must pass drug screening and Level 2 background check
