Job Title: Intervention Specialist Reports To: Director of Student Services Salary: Starting at $48,000 (commensurate with experience and education)
Position Overview
The Intervention Specialist plays a critical role in supporting student success by providing targeted academic, social-emotional, and behavioral interventions within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about closing learning gaps, using data to drive instruction, and collaborating with a team to ensure all students reach their full potential.
The Intervention Specialist delivers small-group and individualized instruction, supports skill development within the general education setting, and partners closely with teachers and support staff to implement effective, evidence-based interventions. This role supports students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and MTSS plans and is instrumental in monitoring progress and adjusting supports to meet student needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions in academic, social-emotional, and behavioral areas through small-group and individualized instruction
Design and adjust flexible intervention groups based on student data and school-wide needs
Deliver push-in support within general education classrooms to promote skill application and independence
Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to align supports and interventions
Support students in meeting goals outlined in IEPs, 504 Plans, and MTSS plans
Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate progress monitoring data to inform instructional decisions
Participate in data team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions regarding student support strategies
Coordinate with paraprofessional staff to ensure effective implementation of interventions
Assist with scheduling interventions and services to maximize student support and instructional time
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required (Master’s degree preferred)
Strong understanding of MTSS, RTI, and evidence-based intervention practices
Experience working with diverse learners, including students with IEPs and 504 Plans
Demonstrated ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly
Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Skills & Attributes
Experience with progress monitoring tools and student data systems
Knowledge of social-emotional learning (SEL) and behavior intervention strategies
Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students and staff
Flexible, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset
