Description
The Inventory Assistant will work with the Practice Manager and Director of Operations to ensure the Emergency Practice and Rehabilitation Practice have the needed medications, medical supplies, and office supplies for daily operations. The Inventory Assistant must be a detail-oriented person with the ability to learn and understand multiple computer systems. The Inventory Assistant needs to communicate clearly with vendors and management.
Requirements
Essential Functions
Ordering and receiving each working day
Enter and verify medication & supply charges to ensure proper capture of fees on client invoices
Monitor and rotate medications and supplies
Check expiration dates on stocked medications and sterile items
Monthly and annual inventory counts
Bring questions or concerns to management team
Non- Essential Functions
Keep storage closets organized and stocked
Help train other staff on how to stock inventory
Help to reduce inventory loss
Align medication markup and adjust as needed
Work with management team to improve inventory controls
Contacts
Frequent contact with vendors, management, staff, and doctors
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail
Exhibit initiative, responsibility, and flexibility
Strong organizational skills
Ability to interact with vendors and co-workers in a professional manner
Ability to follow all policies and procedures
Ability to multi-task in a busy work setting

Must be proficient in MS Office software
Ability to learn and work efficiently in EMR software
Education/Experience/Licensing
High School diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, stoop, crouch, bend over, and walk. Employees must have physical strength and flexibility while kneeling, sitting, or standing. Employees must have the physical strength and ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and must be able to assist in lifting objects weighing more than 35 pounds.
Working Conditions
Work is nearly always performed inside a veterinary hospital building and occasionally outside. The level of noise varies depending on number of patients and can often be a loud work environment. Temperature is generally controlled.
