Overview:

The Inventory Control Person is responsible for continuous improvement in the warehouse and retail store environments at the direction of the Inventory Control Manager which includes (but is not limited to): inventory preparation (e.g. alphanumerical sequencing of product on shelves, movement of overstock, UPC acquisition, etc.), cycle counting inventory using RF scan guns and covering for the “Zero Pick” personnel as needed. Special projects may be assigned at management’s discretion.

Responsibilities:

  • Manually use hand truck, performs various merchandise handling duties in the facility
  • Manually loads merchandise such as auto parts, case goods, drums, kegs, pails, sacks and other merchandise on skid, hand truck, pallet jack, or drum dolly
  • Maintain a satisfactory attendance record and appearance. Attendance during all location inventory functions is mandatory unless otherwise approved by the Inventory Control Manager.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; maintaining clean shipping supply area; complying with all OSHA and company safety procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Use tools such as box-cutters to open boxes or display merchandise
  • May operate forklift or electric pallet jacks after training when required
  • Performs other duties and assignments as directed by management.
  • Work requires significant local and/or regional travel to various company locations, with the possibility of periodic overnight stays

Skill Requirements:

  • Experience with barcodes, UPC data, inventory (shelf counting, updating, running reports)
  • Experience using warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs, specifically using Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent troubleshooting capabilities
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
  • Experience and/or knowledge of lean warehousing techniques and velocity stocking concepts is preferred
  • Work involves continual walking, lifting, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching
  • Work involves climbing and descending stairs frequently
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 51 lbs. of weight on a continuous basis
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Must successfully complete background check, criminal history check
  • Must possess Valid Drivers License and successfully pass company Motor Vehicle Record check
  • Must pass a physical functional capacity exam, and drug screen
  • Must be able to complete tasks with little to no supervision
  • Possess high degree of attention required to prevent injury and damage to self and others when operating a company vehicle
