Job Summary
The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining accurate records of inventory, materials, and supplies. This role ensures that all items are safely handled, properly organized, and promptly dispatched to meet internal operational or production demands.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control & Receiving
- Receive inbound shipments, verify contents against purchase orders or packing slips, and inspect goods for damage or discrepancies.
- Log received items into the Inventory Management System / Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) database in real time.
- Identify, report, and document any defective, damaged, or misdelivered goods.
Stocking & Storage Management
- Unpack, bin, rack, and organize materials in designated stockroom locations according to part numbers, or FIFO (First-In, First-Out) standards.
- Maintain clean, safe, and orderly stockroom shelves, aisles, and staging areas.
- Label bins, racks, and packages with accurate part numbers, descriptions, and barcodes.
Kitting, Issuing & Shipping
- Pick, kit, and issue parts, materials, or tools to production, maintenance, or internal departments based on material requests or work orders.
- Prepare, package, and label outbound shipments or transfers in compliance with shipping standards.
- Track inventory transfers and maintain complete paper or digital audit trails for all movement.
Safety & General Operations
- Operate stockroom equipment safely (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks, ladders, and forklifts where certified).
- Comply with all company safety rules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and OSHA regulations.
- Assist with basic stockroom maintenance and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in stockroom, warehouse, shipping/receiving, or inventory control environments.
- Technical Skills:
- Basic proficiency with inventory software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or WMS systems) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
