Job Description - Inventory Control Specialist

Responsibilities






JOB SUMMARY:

The Inventory Control Specialist supports daily inventory and material handling operations for a multi-line non-woven manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting material flow, and ensuring alignment with production needs across plant and warehouse locations.

 

 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in calculating and coordinating movement of materials between offsite warehouse and plant
  • Follow FIFO guideline and ensure proper material rotation and staging
  • Track and maintain appropriate raw material levels to support uninterrupted production
  • Assist in coordinating inbound deliveries to optimize space and workflow at warehouse location
  • Research and locate materials (e.g., ZME1 packages), updating system location as needed
  • Troubleshoot issues related to receiving, scanning, staging, and labeling of materials and finished goods
  • Maintain accurate inventory in SAP, including trailer location for raw materials, waste, and finished goods
  • Assist with waste tracking and downgrading processes in alignment with company procedures
  • Perform cycle counts and participate in monthly and quarterly physical inventory counts
  • Support inventory accuracy initiatives, including location audits and system reconciliation
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Participate in daily meetings covering safety, production schedules, and operational updates
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and support audit processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
  • Assist with training on procedures and proper equipment use as directed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.








Qualifications






EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse, or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Working knowledge of inventory system (SAP or similar) preferred
  • Basic computer skills (data entry, spreadsheets, inventory systems)
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow instructions, processes, and safety requirements
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed

  • Communication: Clearly communicates with production, warehouse, quality, and leadership team
  • Systems Proficiency: Utilizes SAP and other inventory systems to maintain accuracy and reporting
  • Team Collaboration: Works effectively with cross-functional teams to meet production goals
  • Accountability: Takes ownership of assigned tasks and follows through to completion
  • Adaptability: Adjusts to changing production schedules, inventory needs, and operational priorities
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset: Supports Lean initiatives and process improvement efforts

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work performed in a warehouse and manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to varying temperatures (hot, cold, and humid)
  • Frequent interaction with moving machinery and equipment
  • May require working overtime, weekend, or shifts based on production needs
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and industrial materials

 

EFFORT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 35 lbs. regularly
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Operation of forklifts and other powered industrial equipment for extended periods
  • Manual handing of materials and repetitive movements
  • Visual acuity to read labels, screens, and documentation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet productivity standards

 

HEALTH & SAFTEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comply with all company safety policies, OSHA regulation, and GMP requirements
  • Always wear all required PPE
  • Perform pre-operational equipment inspections and report defects immediately
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to prevent hazards
  • Immediately report unsafe condition, near misses, and incidents to management
  • Participate in safety training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support and promote a strong safety culture across the team
