Reports to:  Assistant Manager, Store Manager

Direct Reports:  None    

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

Position Summary

Upholds the Core Values as determined by the management team. Primary responsibility for all positions with Mendo Mill & Lumber is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time.  The Inventory Coordinator’s role also requires they foster a commitment to generate an in stock position to satisfy every customer by having the right product, in the right quantity, at the right time. 

The Inventory Coordinator position is responsible for the overall inventory integrity and maintenance of a store’s inventory following Ace’s inventory best practices and metrics - some of which are outlined as follows:

●      Inventory Record Accuracy-IRA (Change in Quantity on Hand, Credit PO’s, Direct Ship, etc.)

●      In Stock Opportunity (Maximum Stock Level, Minimum Order Point, Store Use, etc.)

●      Assortment (Product Mix)

●      Unproductive Inventory (Overstock, Obsolete, Discontinued, Markdowns, etc.)

●      Shrink (Loss, Damage, etc.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

●      Ensure data accuracy within the system to maintain adequate inventory levels

●      Print and process the Negative Reports and make corrections as necessary

●      Process Count-Correction-Sheets and make corrections in inventory system

●      Monitor Outs to ensure store maintains a rate in accordance with company standards. 

●      “Shoot the Outs,” research variances, and make corrections as needed

●      Process defectives and temporary outs

●      Process Mango Count Sheets and exception reports.

●      Monitor shrinkage, recommend ways to reduce theft and breakage, and make corrections in inventory system.

●      Identify obsolete inventory, determine how to best remove it, and assist store management with the liquidation process.

●      Train store staff on inventory management best practices 

●      Maintain accuracy of all location codes. 

●      Collaborate with Receivers and Cashiers to help identify errors and correct them as necessary

●      Print bin tags (labels) as requested

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

●      High School degree, some college preferred. 

●      Possess a vast product knowledge of consumable products along with a willingness to learn

●      General understanding of inventory principles and experience with retail programs

●      Understand the flow of merchandise

●      Experience in a retail environment either in inventory, sales, or back office

●      Excellent quantitative and computer skills

●      Analytical and pricing knowledge with the ability to conduct comparison analysis and make sound decision

●      Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word and Excel a plus

●      Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task

●      Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business

** This is a supplemental job description to be utilized for those associates that have this additional responsibility. This is not a position by itself and the associate with this responsibility is expected to adhere to these expectations along with the expectations set forth on the job description for their main role within the store.
