Job Description - Inventory Management Specialist

Summary This position is part of the WAPA-UGP-Upper Great Plains. As a Inventory Management Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting the Technical Lead and Administrative Officer in accomplishing property management and disposal, as well as warehouse inventory management. This is not a remote position. The selectee will be required to be physically present at the Huron, SD duty location. Responsibilities As an Inventory Management Specialist you will: Be responsible for assisting the region Inventory Management Specialist Technical Lead and Administrative Officer in accomplishing property management and disposal, and warehouse inventory management functions. These programs directly support the maintenance and operation of the UGP complex electrical power transmission and distribution system covering a large geographical area. Systematically evaluate and analyze property management services for improvements and recommends and implements process improvements. Oversee day-to-day operations of the property management program at the State (SD) site. Assist with planning, directing, coordinating, managing and operating the following: assets, stores, GSA Advantage, utilization, disposal, supply management, warehouse, etc. Purchases warehouse stock using a Government Purchase Card. Develop and implement a systematic process for obtaining and responding to feedback and assuring needs are being met. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: For the GS-09 level: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) in the federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting two (2) of the four (4) following items: Incumbent must have experience in writing, interpreting and utilizing fleet policies, regulations, procedures and instructions to perform fleet management duties. Experience conducting fleet operation and maintenance cost studies to identify units requiring repair or replacement. Experience identifying, recommending and implementing methods for improving processes and procedures associated with accountable assets, warehouse inventory and fleet management. Experience working in partnership with customers or personnel by developing and implementing a systematic process for obtaining and responding to their feedback to ensure that their needs are being met. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D if related. Your education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. For the GS-11 level: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting three (3) of the four (4) following items: Incumbent must have experience in writing, interpreting and utilizing fleet policies, regulations, procedures and instructions to perform fleet management duties. Experience conducting fleet operation and maintenance cost studies to identify units requiring repair or replacement. Experience identifying, recommending and implementing methods for improving processes and procedures associated with accountable assets, warehouse inventory and fleet management. Experience working in partnership with customers or personnel by developing and implementing a systematic process for obtaining and responding to their feedback to ensure that their needs are being met. OR Education: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or at least 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. if related to the duties of the position. Your education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
