Job Description - Inventory Manager

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm


Job Responsibilities:



  • Lead and manage all inventory control activities within the facility.

  • Establish and maintain inventory control procedures, processes, and standards.

  • Ensure inventory records accurately reflect physical inventory levels.

  • Develop and manage cycle count programs and periodic physical inventory activities.

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and identify root causes.

  • Review and approve inventory adjustments in accordance with company procedures.

  • Monitor inventory accuracy, shrinkage, damages, shortages, overages, and obsolete inventory.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the warehouse management system (WMS), ERP, and/or other applicable systems.

  • Partner with Operations leadership to identify and correct inventory handling issues.

  • Analyze inventory data and trends to identify recurring problems and opportunities for improvement.

  • Ensure inventory transactions are completed accurately and timely.

  • Develop and maintain inventory-related reports, metrics, and performance dashboards.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including inventory accuracy, cycle count accuracy, adjustment activity, and inventory variance.

  • Coordinate with customers regarding inventory discrepancies, reconciliations, and inventory-related concerns.

  • Ensure proper identification, labeling, storage, movement, and control of inventory.

  • Establish controls to minimize inventory loss, damage, misplacement, and unauthorized adjustments.

  • Conduct audits of inventory processes and ensure compliance with company and customer requirements.

  • Support internal and external customer audits as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, security, and operational policies and procedures.

  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes, reduce costs, and increase productivity.

  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory management and warehouse operations.

  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations during month-end and year-end inventory reconciliation activities.

  • Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained for inventory adjustments and discrepancies.

  • Provide training, coaching, and development to Inventory Control personnel.

  • Establish performance expectations and hold team members accountable for achieving department goals.

  • Manage staffing, scheduling, workload distribution, and daily priorities for the Inventory Control team.

  • Address employee performance issues in partnership with People Support/HR and Operations leadership.

  • Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


SKILLS & ABILITIES



  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.  Courses in material management/inventory control are preferred.



  • Experience: Two (2) to three (3) year’s related experience.  Prior WMS experience preferred.

  • Computer Skills: Intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Strong working knowledge of MS Office to include Outlook, Excel and Word. Ability to master internal computer systems
