Inventory Specialist

The Inventory Specialist role goes beyond standard warehouse duties, requiring a well-rounded understanding of inventory management, purchasing, and accounts payable functions. The Inventory Specialist will play a key role in ensuring inventory accuracy, driving continuous improvement, and collaborating cross-functionally to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Job Duties: 

· Execute daily tasks as assigned by the Materials Supervisor.

· Conduct and manage weekly inventory cycle counts, both independently and by delegating tasks to team members.

· Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies by working closely with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and Inventory staff; make necessary inventory adjustments.

· Generate and maintain weekly inventory accuracy reports and file documentation as needed.

· Identify and propose process improvements related to inventory control, including parts pulling, receiving, and location accuracy.

· Lead and coordinate the annual physical inventory count in collaboration with the Inventory and Accounting departments.

· Relocate inventory throughout the warehouse to optimize storage and efficiency.

· Provide hands-on support across inventory functions: parts pulling, receiving, training, loading/unloading, and work ticket/sales order creation.

· Learn and assist with purchasing and accounts payable functions as part of a broader materials team.

· Monitor and interpret production schedules, charts, blueprints, and build lists to determine material requirements across the production floor.

· Train new and temporary staff in all inventory-related operations.

· Safely operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes.

Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Prior experience in inventory control or warehouse operations (required).

· Familiarity with purchasing and/or accounts payable processes is a plus.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to track down root causes and implement solutions.

· Comfortable using inventory management systems and generating reports.

· Ability to read and interpret production schedules, blueprints, and related manufacturing documentation.

· Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively across departments.

· Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
