Job Description - Iop Nurse/Marketing Representative

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Magnolia is currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Full-Time Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Nurse/Marketing Representative to join our growing behavioral health team. This position is based out of our Magnolia, Mississippi Intensive Outpatient Program and offers an exciting opportunity to combine compassionate patient care with community outreach and business development.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Position Summary


The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Nurse/Marketing Representative serves a dual role by providing clinical nursing support to the IOP while actively developing and maintaining referral relationships throughout the community. This position is responsible for patient assessments, medication management, coordination of care, patient education, physician communication, and promoting the hospital's behavioral health services to referral sources including physicians, hospitals, nursing facilities, home health agencies, assisted living facilities, and community organizations. The position plays a vital role in growing the IOP census while ensuring high-quality patient care.


Essential Clinical Duties


Patient Care



  • Complete the admission process for all new IOP patients.

  • Perform nursing assessments on all new IOP admissions.

  • Obtain and document vital signs.

  • Complete medication reconciliation.

  • Review allergies, medical history, and current diagnoses.

  • Assess for suicide risk, fall risk, and safety concerns.

  • Monitor patients for changes in physical or mental condition.

  • Notify providers of significant changes in patient status.

  • Participate in treatment planning with the interdisciplinary team.

  • Ensure physician orders are carried out accurately.

  • Coordinate laboratory work and diagnostic testing as ordered.

  • Monitor medication compliance and side effects.

  • Provide medication education to patients and caregivers.

  • Assist with crisis intervention when necessary.

  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies.

  • Coordinate transfers to higher levels of care when indicated.


Clinical Documentation



  • Complete all nursing documentation accurately and timely.

  • Maintain electronic medical records.

  • Document assessments, interventions, patient education, and communications.

  • Ensure documentation meets CMS, and state regulatory requirements.

  • Complete incident reports when necessary.

  • Assist with quality improvement documentation.


Patient Education



  • Educate patients regarding:

    • Mental health diagnoses

    • Medication purpose and side effects

    • Coping skills

    • Disease management

    • Safety planning

    • Follow-up appointments

    • Community resources




Infection Prevention



  • Follow infection prevention standards.

  • Maintain clean treatment areas.

  • Monitor infection control practices.

  • Report communicable diseases according to policy.


Coordination of Care



  • Communicate with:

    • Physicians

    • Nurse Practitioners

    • Therapists

    • Social Workers

    • Case Managers

    • Family members

    • Primary Care Providers



  • Coordinate referrals and continuity of care.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.

Develop and maintain relationships with:

  • Conduct regular physician office visits.

  • Schedule educational presentations.

  • Develop referral pipelines.

  • Represent the hospital at health fairs.

  • Educate referral sources regarding IOP services.

  • Maintain contact with current referral partners.

  • Identify new referral opportunities.

  • Assist with community outreach events.

  • Distribute marketing materials.

  • Track referral activity.

Required Qualifications


Education



  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.


Licensure



  • Current LPN Nurse license in the State of Mississippi.

  • Current BLS certification.


Experience


Preferred:



  • Behavioral Health

PRE-ADMIT SCREENING



  • Conduct pre-admission screenings for all prospective IOP patients.

  • Coordinate transportation schedules with the IOP transportation team.

  • Monitor attendance and follow up with patients who miss scheduled treatment days.



  • Assist providers during weekly psychiatric rounds.

  • Review insurance eligibility, authorizations, and recertifications with Utilization Review as needed.

  • Educate referral facilities on Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance criteria for IOP admission.

  • Maintain referral tracking logs and report weekly referral metrics to administration.

  • Participate in community education presentations focused on geriatric behavioral health, depression, anxiety, dementia-related behaviors, and caregiver support.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between referral sources and the hospital to facilitate timely admissions and continuity of care.
