IP Assistant/Paralegal

Overview
Howson & Howson, a boutique intellectual property law firm, is seeking a detail-oriented IP Assistant/Paralegal. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in legal matters and possess excellent organizational skills to provide support to several of our attorneys.

A qualified candidate will possess an eagerness to learn and a positive attitude, and will be an active team member, proactively requesting and taking on additional responsibilities to support the attorneys' practice. The IP Assistant/Paralegal will gain proficiency in a wide array of projects.

Responsibilities

• Utilize excellent preparation, proofreading, interpersonal, and organizational skills in daily tasks.
• Clear and concise communication with clients – written and oral.
• Respond to correspondence promptly.
• Update information in designated software regularly.
• Demonstrate professionalism in confidentiality, communications, and attention to detail.
• Prioritize tasks, follow up with attorneys, clients, and other parties.
• Assist attorneys in tracking work.
• Pre-file processing of submissions to the US Patent and Trademark Office.
• Assist in Internet research.

Education

Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred with relevant coursework in the sciences. Relevant postsecondary training/education/experience will be considered.

Hours

Monday – Friday, 35-40 hours per week.
