Position: Irrigation Technician

Reporting Position: Golf Course Superintendent

Classification: Hourly Full Time, Non-Exempt

Working Hours: According to shift assignments

Primary Responsibility: The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the programming, operation 

and maintenance of the golf course irrigation systems. In addition, the 

person is required to report any irregularities in the turf quality to his/ her 

supervisor.

Principle Duties: 

* Responsible for the upkeep, repairs and maintenance of the irrigation systems.

* Responsible for the cleanliness of the irrigation parts room and maintains inventory of the 

supplies.

* Waters and fertilizes tees, greens and fairways, also applies chemicals/ fertilizers on the greens.

* Operates irrigation heads in dry areas requiring more attention.

* Completes orders and discusses them with the Superintendent for authorization.

* Assists the Assistant Superintendent in managing the team members.

* Maintains a clean golf course and maintenance complex.

* Must be able to perform the duties of an Equipment Operator.

* Demonstrates courtesy to all Members and guests at all times.

Physical, Mental and visual Skills:

Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues.

Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitor and develop subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write and read member communication.

Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 80 lbs, up to 40 lbs frequently and up to 10 lbs constantly. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting.

Working Conditions

Works primarily outdoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp 

utensils, harmful chemicals and or solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed. Use caution and stay clear of golfers to avoid contact with a golf club or and or being exposed to flying golf balls.
