Mill Brothers Landscape Group is a second-generation, family-owned company with over 46 years of experience shaping outdoor spaces across Northern Colorado. As our maintenance and irrigation divisions continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and dependable Commercial Irrigation Technician / Utility Locate Technician to join our team.
This full-time, year-round position combines irrigation system service and repair with underground utility locating to support irrigation repairs, installations, and landscape construction projects. The role is critical to ensuring irrigation systems operate efficiently while protecting underground infrastructure and maintaining safety on all Mill Brothers projects.
Key Responsibilities
Perform seasonal irrigation system activations, inspections, repairs, and winterizations.
Troubleshoot and repair irrigation components including valves, heads, mainlines, wiring, and controllers.
Program, adjust, and document irrigation controller settings to maintain proper system performance and water efficiency.
Conduct monthly irrigation inspections and audits to identify leaks, coverage issues, and system improvements.
Perform underground utility locating for irrigation systems, electrical lines, communication lines, and other utilities using locating equipment.
Accurately mark underground utilities and irrigation lines to ensure safe excavation and repair work.
Coordinate with field crews to prevent damage to utilities during landscape construction or irrigation repairs.
Maintain accurate documentation for irrigation programs, service reports, locate markings, and repair work.
Complete daily electronic paperwork including timesheets, service notes, and billing documentation.
Maintain clear communication with Account Managers, Irrigation Manager, and Division Manager regarding job progress and customer needs.
Professionally represent Mill Brothers Landscape Group on all client properties.
Participate in snow removal operations during the winter season.
Rotate as the on-call technician for week-long service shifts.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support company goals and operations.
Qualifications
2–3+ years of experience in irrigation service, repair, or landscape irrigation systems preferred.
Experience with underground utility locating equipment or willingness to learn.
Ability to troubleshoot irrigation systems and perform repairs with minimal supervision.
Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to read irrigation and landscape plans preferred.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Basic verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and 75 lbs occasionally.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Familiarity with irrigation controllers such as Hunter, Rain Bird, or Baseline preferred.
Valid Colorado driver’s license with an insurable driving record (required).
Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Pay: $25.00 – $33.00 per hour DOE
Paid Vacation: 10 days (prorated) per calendar year with annual accrual
Paid Sick Time: 48 hours annually
