This position analyzes and modifies data systems; resolves system related problems through appropriate research methods and communication with user department professionals and vendors; analyzes reports in relation to system capabilities; follows department procedures relative to request tracking and documentation; analyzes and modifies the system design; and develops procedures to process information.

This is a per diem position working various hours a shift and various days of the week.

EXTRA INCENTIVE:

In lieu of benefits, receive additional 12% differential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

1. Consult with users, analyze their computing needs, develop, and maintain database/spreadsheet applications.


2. Uses the ticketing system to create and update work tickets and documentation to support the configuration and maintenance of the various IT systems and functions


3. Troubleshoot hardware and software problems and initiate corrective procedures; install and maintain software and hardware.


4. Update and maintain various system software such as operating systems, security software systems, backup systems, directory maintenance, capacity and resource management systems, local software utilities and print systems.


5. May assist and advise management regarding computing facility requirements and make recommendations as requested.


6. Provide technical support to Samaritan Healthcare and its entities primarily in the areas of software.


7. Ability to install and upgrade software, and operate a variety of hand tools and computer diagnostic utilities.


8. Provide day-to-day consulting services and development support, interpret user problems, and initiate the appropriate action for their resolution.


9. Interface with vendors supplying software and hardware needs.


10. Provide detailed technical support in the areas of the EHR/EMR, PC hardware specifications, PC software development and use, Network and PC/Mid‑range/Mainframe connectivity.


11. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.


12. Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body


13. Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.


14. Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.


15. Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.


16. Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

The professional in this position reports to the Information Technology Director. This position works closely with all computer users within the organization in order to support their computing needs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Education:
  
  
  
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience.
  
  
  
  


• Experience:
  
  
  
  1. Intermediate level, with 3-5 years of experience and healthcare systems knowledge.
  
  
  2. In depth knowledge and experience with VMware. Capable of configuring and managing virtual machines and virtual switches.

  1. Capable of analyzing a problem, understanding the impact to the organization and able to recommend a course of action for resolution.
