Job Description - IT Assistant

Position:
IT Assistant


Description:
Provide technical support and training to schools on the use of technology within their campus setting. Responsible for setting up, coordinating, and monitoring the operation of electronic computer equipment. Perform routine maintenance tasks, troubleshoot issues, and ensure efficient operation of IT systems. Assist with supporting and maintaining web-based and internal applications developed using .NET Core, MVC, C#, SQL, and HTML technologies. Understand the implications of work and make recommendations for solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:


• High School Diploma or GED.
• An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• Experience or familiarity with .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, C#, SQL, and HTML is preferred.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Provide technical support to end-users for hardware, software, network, and web application issues.
• Assist in installing, setting up and configuring new computer systems, camera systems, printers, speakers, and software applications.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as software updates, backups, system monitoring, and basic database maintenance.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software to identify and resolve technical issues promptly.
• Assist with supporting and maintaining applications developed using .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, C#, SQL, and HTML technologies.
• Execute basic SQL queries for troubleshooting, reporting, and data validation purposes.
• Assist with updating and maintaining internal web pages and web-based applications using HTML.
• Maintain inventory of IT equipment and software licenses.
• Document technical procedures and create user guides.
• Support instructional technology applications consistent with established project objectives and activities.
• Provide ongoing training to teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals in the use of instructional technology and hardware applications.
• Coordinate efforts to assist schools in the identification, selection, acquisition, use, and evaluation of computer hardware and appropriate software.
• Establish and maintain technology resources appropriate for classroom use.
• Attend required meetings.
• Create and update user guides and instructional materials.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
• Ability to organize special programs for assigned campuses.
• Ability to use computers, including software, the district's database, spreadsheet and word processing software, a calculator, a copy machine, and a telephone.
• Basic knowledge of .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, C#, SQL, and HTML.
• Ability to troubleshoot software, database, and web application issues.
• Ability to analyze data.
• Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills.



WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


• Light Work: may require occasional light lifting.
• Night and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
• The position is in a school setting and requires prolonged work at a desk in one location, walking, and standing.
• Moderate travel is required.
