The IT Assistant provides Tier 1 technical support to ensure the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of company systems, networks, and technology assets. This role supports daily IT operations by troubleshooting hardware, software, and network connectivity issues; maintaining Windows environments; and assisting with user account management and onboarding. The IT Assistant serves as a responsive, service-oriented resource for employees across all departments, maintaining accurate documentation and collaborating with the IT Administrator to support system updates, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement of technology services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide Tier 1 technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and related peripherals across all departments.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows 10/11 operating systems and standard business applications.
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and user access issues; document problems, actions taken, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
Respond to IT service requests in a timely, professional manner, prioritizing issues to minimize operational disruption.
Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, including wired and wireless connections, VPN access, and basic firewall or switch-related concerns.
Assist with new employee onboarding by preparing workstations, installing software, setting up user accounts, and assigning appropriate access permissions.
Monitor systems for performance issues, outages, or potential failures and escalate unresolved or complex issues to the IT Administrator as appropriate.
Support implementation of software updates, security patches, and system rollouts in coordination with IT leadership.
Perform routine maintenance of technology equipment, including hardware cleaning, cable management, and asset organization.
Educate employees on cybersecurity best practices, network safety, and appropriate technology usage.
Maintain accurate documentation of IT assets, configurations, procedures, and status reports to ensure effective tracking and compliance.
EDUCATION & SKILLS
Associate degree (2-year) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, or a related field preferred. Two (2) plus years of hands-on IT support or help desk experience preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
