Job Description - IT Central Services Engineer

We’re looking for a sharp, curious, and service-driven Central Services Engineer to join our Managed Services team. In this role, you’ll be part of the engine that keeps our clients running; solving problems before they happen, optimizing systems behind the scenes, and supporting our frontline service desk with technical expertise. You’ll work across multiple environments, leverage automation and centralized toolsets, and help shape the operational backbone of our MSP.

Job Description 


The Central Services Engineer role is focused on increasing the efficiency of service delivery teams via the implementation and management of technology within the organization. The role is responsible for the selection, implementation, and on-going improvements within tools used to deliver services to our customers and internally.

Key Accountabilities



  • Own and optimize the technical tool stack

    • Ensure RMM, monitoring, alerting, backup, EDR, and related tools are correctly configured, reliable, standardized, and continuously improved.

    • Manage automated patch management initiatives and testing methodologies.



  • Own Internal and Client Facing automation Initiatives

    • Develop and maintain standards related to the implementation of automation in our service delivery as well as internal to the organization.

    • Drive standards as we introduce AI initiatives into our tool stack 



  • Support onboarding and offboarding of managed clients

    • Ensure all new clients enter our tooling, standards, and baselines cleanly and efficiently.

    • Support engineering team with deployment as needed.



  • Provide internal documentation, training, and communication

    • Create clear documentation and release notes for tooling changes, standards updates, and automation improvements; educate internal teams as necessary.





Requirements: 



  • 3+ years of experience in an MSP/TSP or similar multi-tenant environment

  • Strong background in Windows systems administration and endpoint/server management

  • Hands-on experience with RMM tools (ConnectWise Automate, N-able, etc.)

  • Experience automating tasks using PowerShell or similar scripting languages

  • Experience supporting security tools such as EDR/AV, patching solutions, backup tools, MDM, and MFA

  • Excellent documentation, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills
