The

IT Director of Infrastructure, Operations and Security

is responsible for managing the company’s technology infrastructure (on prem), IT operations, and related service delivery, which includes data centers, servers, storage, service desk operations, telecommunications and conferencing, personal computers and related equipment, conference room technology, mobile devices and disaster recovery; cloud infrastructure may or may not be in scope for this role. Additionally, this role will be responsible for building out the Cyber Security capabilities, responsibilities, and services for PTR. Reporting to the CIO, will play an important role as a member of the IT Leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and execution, leading a team of direct reports and overseeing third party vendors. This role will be an integral part of the IT leadership team to provide expert guidance on all technology capabilities and initiatives. This role is expected to continuously engage with IT and business teams to improve IT’s technical capabilities, services, reliability, risk management, and modernization. Additionally, this role will lead and support the development of enhanced cyber security capabilities and practices in alignment with executive goals and risk appetite.
COMPENSATION
This position has a competitive compensation package that is a combination of base salary plus profit sharing paid quarterly after 1 year of employment.
LOCATION
This position is on a Hybrid with a rotating travel schedule at 50%; travel includes travel to both PTR locations for meetings, trainings, team leadership, and for technology ops effectiveness.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy, Financials, Leadership, Executive Reporting
Direct and lead the IT infrastructure and operations team to deliver exceptional infrastructure and IT operations services that include network and server administration, internet and phone services, firewall, system backups, disaster recovery, the service desk, Office 365, printers, and video conferencing.
Contribute to the creation of IT strategies, budgets, processes, policies, and procedures as they relate to IT infrastructure and Operations capabilities, services, and products
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy and roadmap with measurable objectives and milestones for Infrastructure and Operations based on modern infrastructure architecture, cloud-services, virtualization, modernization and currency, security, etc.
Contribute to the establishment of IT policies and procedures, standards and governance
Develop and routinely report on operational metrics
Participate in the development and review of the overall IT budget. Responsible for developing and adhering to the infrastructure and operations budget, including capital projects. Produce business case justifications as needed
Infrastructure and IT Service Management
Review performance and capacity (including conducting capacity planning) of IT systems’ infrastructure to manage the optimization of operating costs, productivity levels, capacity availability and upgrade requirements
Establish, maintain and report on SLAs / Manage and maintain the escalation process for issues received from other IT groups such as the desktop support and application teams
Provide 24x7 support as required including executive-level desktop support and ticket resolution and ensure desktop support team is equipped to resolve complicated support requests and ensure proper escalation according to established SLAs and processes
Create repeatable capability to report on metrics ensuring optimum utilization of resources
May require leadership of project management skills or infrastructure project managers and alignment of the Infrastructure, Operations, and Security area of ITCI to adhere to PMO rules
Collaborate closely with project management, business systems and security teams to deliver innovative, secure technology solutions on time and on budget that require infrastructure
Ensure PTR has a stable and reliable environment for all production systems, including management of vendor’s software patches and upgrades
Develop and maintain infrastructure architecture plan and roadmap; may include cloud
IT Operations Services, Continuous Improvement, Support, Solution Delivery, Disaster Recovery and Vendor Management
Lead, manage, and perform hands on support for the implementation and maintenance of core IT systems such as networking, internet, servers, cloud, operating systems, storage, data centers, telephony, authentication, VPN, firewalls, routers, etc. by using best practices and frameworks such as ITIL to continuously add value and efficiency to PTR
Responsible for disaster recovery (and coordination of business continuity), including planning, documentation, implementation and testing for all platforms. Coordinate the development of Disaster Recovery for IT/CI and participate in PTRs Business Continuity planning with ELT members. Lead the organization in the resumption of services in the event of disrupted IT
Responsible for related vendor relationships to ensure performance and SLAs, incident handling and maintenance are done to PTR’s standards. Negotiate contracts and renewals as well as billing review and approval for all infrastructure, operations, and security related vendors
Create requests for proposals (RFPs) and evaluate proposal submissions for the technologies utilized for infrastructure, operations, and security
Champion and drive internal continuous improvement processes to ensure consistent and reliable technical delivery that is agile, timely, cost-effective, and risk appropriate
Accountable for comprehensive backups, recovery testing, establishing RPO, RTO, etc.
Ensure high network performance, network architecture optimization, documentation, etc.
Responsible for IT Asset inventory (establish, maintain, report on), and currency of IT assets; issuance of hardware and equipment including laptops, conference room technology, shop floor technology (e.g., scanners), etc.; establish asset lifecycles and currency metrics
Identify technical, performance and reliability gaps by ensuring the active monitoring of system performance, system logs, software/OS versions, equipment service dates, vendor service level agreements, etc., and proactively recommend projects and tactics to remediate identified issues
Responsible to consistently and effectively communicate to company (in partnership with ITLT, Marketing, and HR) re: any network, infrastructure, etc. outages (planned and unplanned)
Establish NOC and/or SEIM as determined appropriate (could include per vendor services)
Security
Work directly with ITLT to develop Cybersecurity capabilities in the areas of Governance, Risk, Compliance, Security Operations and Monitoring (SOC), Security Architecture/Engineering, Security by design, Identity & Access Management., Threat Management, Vulnerability remediation, etc.
Identify, report on, and mitigate areas of cyber security and physical security risk
Continue to stay aware and plan for evolving security threats, vectors, approaches, and profiles
Establish internal and external network of resources and teams/services to continuously support and improve PTR’s Cybersecurity program, cyber defenses, policies, and procedures
Support the execution of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, threat monitoring, etc.
Swiftly remediate vulnerabilities to protect endpoints, networks, databases, and system access
Develop Security Incident Response plan, maintain, rollout, and conduct table top exercises with all required areas of the business
Evaluate cyber security maturity, alignment to recognized frameworks and ELT-agreed-upon maturity levels aligned to PTR risk appetite and tolerance; partner with EA on future Risk Council
Develop criteria, surveys, etc. to evaluate, measure, and ensure minimum requirements of cyber security controls and capabilities from existing and new vendor partners in all areas of technology services, products, and solutions
Drive classification of data sensitivity levels and remediate gaps in controls based on level
Collaborate closely ITLT and ELT to identify and implement any required security changes to the internal environment and with third-party providers
Business Relationships, IT Service Management, and Team Development
Develop and maintain productive relationships with direct reports, IT leadership, and business end users to ensure their needs are properly received, interpreted, prioritized, and managed
Develop job descriptions, career paths; evaluate, and hire IT Infrastructure team members
Manage, coach and mentor systems administration, service/help desk, and other team membersand provide guidance on best practices and opportunities to develop skills, capabilities
Work to create a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
Operational management of technical teams and direction of cross-functional teams / partners
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

MUST HAVE
15 years' + experience of working within technical operations and complex projects and/or BS Computer Science, related field with supervisory experience leading technical staff such as network engineers and system administrators
Experience managing and leading teams in fast-paced, demanding business environments
Effective executive communication and communication to a wide, diverse team
Extensive and proven knowledge of network (LAN/WAN/WLAN/SDWAN) connectivity and support including troubleshooting, testing and application networking
Ability to oversee multiple initiatives at once, project manage multiple tasks and initiatives from and by multiple individuals and teams
Service-oriented mindset, with positive problem-solving approach, natural curiosity, ability to demonstrate critical thinking, and work well in a collaborative team environment
Self-starter, team leader, team player, technically competent, change agent, customer focused, results driven, meticulous about details and maintain perspective / big picture
Excellent and proven communication skills; both written and verbal
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of personnel and explain complex technical solutions to all levels of management

Preferred, experience of working within a managed service environment

Systems administration: Active Directory, Network policy management, SSL certificates, scripting (e.g., PowerShell), Microsoft Exchange, patch management
Experience working on stressful events such as Severity 1 system incidents
Experience creating and maintaining system documentation
Experience managing email security and SPAM gateways
Experience with IT methodologies and frameworks such as ITIL, Agile, COBIT, etc.
Experience working with ITSM systems such as ServiceNow
