Job Purpose or Objective(s):
The IT Director of Information Security provides vision and leadership for developing and supporting security initiatives. The Information Security Director directs the planning and implementation of enterprise IT system, business operation, and facility defenses against security breaches and vulnerability issues. This individual is also responsible for auditing existing systems, while directing the administration of security policies, activities, and standards.
Primary Tasks: Ensure cybersecurity risks faced by the organization are monitored, managed and effectively mitigated within the organization's risk appetite. Identifies and champions opportunities in existing or new technology to enable the organization to execute its mission more efficiently and more effectively while minimizing cybersecurity risks. Serve as a subject matter expert inside the organization and assisting senior organizational leadership with complex issues pertaining to information security, compliance (HIPPA, CJIS, PCI DSS, FERPA, SOC 1/SOC 2, etc.), data privacy, and how to address new/emerging technology (such as AI, machine learning, etc.). Participate in strategic security planning to achieve business goals while protecting revenue by prioritizing defense initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future security technologies using a risk-based assessment methodology that addresses both current and future risks and effectively mitigates cyber threats in alignment with the organization's risk appetite. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for the organization's information security program. Organize and oversee the Cyber Security Incident Response Team as well as the day-to-day operations of the security operations team, the vulnerability management team, and the network protection team. Drive cybersecurity educational awareness activities for all associates across the organization. Coordinate service activities with other departments; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence. Develop and manage the information technology expense budget to contribute to a cost-effective operation. Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints. Build, manage and continually improve a highly functional and efficient IT team to achieve agreed to goals. Review performance of the key team managers within the departments. Perform salary administration activities as needed. Other duties as may be assigned.
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
MINIMUM Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or a related field Must possess excellent communication skills Must be highly motivated, self-initiating, and trustworthy Ability to assess strategic organizational goals, conduct complex gap analysis, and design and implement large scale, complex applications and systems to improve profitability and sustained competitive advantage Experience in planning and executing security policies, standards development and cybersecurity risk management. Excellent knowledge of technology environments, including information security, building security, and defense solutions Ability to lead and manage technical staff Ten years + of directly related experience in managing and leading technical staff Manage the administration of all computer security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptography systems, and SIEM along with all of the policies, procedures, and practices
