Job Description - IT Engineer, Level 3 (FORECASTED)
What You Will Do:
At Independent Software, complex problems are solved through expert engineering and forward-thinking design. As an IT Engineer Level 3, you will be responsible for the design, integration, maintenance, and optimization of mission-critical IT systems. Your work will span the full system lifecycle—from architectural planning and implementation to troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and review system architecture, design documentation, and use cases
Lead major components of IT engineering projects and support full lifecycle execution
Recommend and implement new technologies and processes to improve system performance
Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and provide scalable solutions
Coordinate system installations and support build documentation for administrators
Identify and translate operational requirements into technical design
Manage and optimize technology to ensure availability, performance, and reliability
Collaborate with engineers, administrators, and leadership to address technical challenges
Present technical briefs and communicate status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders
Support IT security through the development of monitoring and mitigation procedures
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Extensive experience designing, building, and maintaining IT systems in secure environments
Ability to lead and manage medium to large-scale technical projects
Experience resolving complex IT problems across multiple technologies
Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and executive audiences
Familiarity with performance tuning, system monitoring, and capacity planning
Ability to translate user needs into system requirements and solutions
Experience in recommending cost-effective, secure, and scalable system designs
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline and 12 years of relevant IT engineering experience, or
Master’s degree in a related discipline and 10 years of experience, or
No degree with an additional 4 years of experience, totaling 16 years of IT engineering experience
Must possess an active TS/SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
