Job Description - IT Policy Program Operations Analyst

Berkeley Lab's Office of the Chief Information Officer seeks an

IT Policy Program Operations Analyst

. You will collaborate with the CIO, CISO, and IT Policy Managers to achieve optimal technology and cybersecurity policies for researchers.
The role requires a technology background and training in policy analysis. Candidates should have strong analytical skills to address complex issues in technology, privacy, and policy. Responsibilities include developing the Lab's cyber security and IT policies, building Information Protection and Privacy Programs, implementing Federal cybersecurity orders, and making risk-based decisions for the Lab community.

What You Will Do:
Follow IT Policy managers' instructions to apply existing policies to daily IT issues.
Help develop internal policy and program documents for cybersecurity, information protection, privacy, and IT requirements.
Collaborate with IT Policy managers and CISO to respond to DOE Data Calls about cyber risk.
Communicate with peers at other National Laboratories and UC Campuses to leverage policy efforts.
Create training materials on IT Policy and Cyber Security topics.
Assist in managing IT Policy processes using Google Suite applications.
What is Required:
Bachelor's Degree in policy analysis, regulatory management, privacy, cybersecurity, or IT.
1-3 years experience working in a team with an adaptive and resourceful attitude, supporting the operations of a dynamic workload.
Ability to grasp technical and IT policy issues.
Strong written communication skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Analytical skills for reading IT policy documents from NIST, OMB, or DOE.
Knowledge of controls and policy for Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and DOE Order 471.1B.
Experience with Articulate or similar platforms for interactive training.
Experience managing web content, especially with WordPress and SaaS platforms like WP Engine.
Notes:
This is a full-time 1 year, term appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to Career appointment based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.
This position is expected to pay $77,436 - $94,620 annually, which fits within the full salary range of $68,820 - $116,148 annually. Salary for this position will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualifications and experience, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, certifications while being aligned with the internal peer group.
This position may be subject to a background check. Any convictions will be evaluated to determine if they directly relate to the responsibilities and requirements of the position. Having a conviction history will not automatically disqualify an applicant from being considered for employment.
Work may be performed on-site, hybrid, full-time telework or remote modes. Work must be performed within the United States.
