Job Description - IT Service Desk Lead







We are looking for a full-time IT Service Desk Lead to work onsite at the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) in Vicksburg, MS supporting the Research and Development Network. This role combines people-leadership, process optimization, and hands-on technical ability and oversight to drive service excellence, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement in alignment with business goals and industry best practices.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities



  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the IT Service Desk ensuring timely, high-quality technical support for end-users

  • Serve as the first point of contact for ERDC Research and Development Network customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email

  • Provide end user support for desktop and notebook systems utilizing remote support tools

  • Interact with users daily and assist them with technical issues related to their Windows or Macintosh desktop or notebook system, client application software, printers, or mobile device

  • Record all work in a service desk ticketing system

  • Provide professional, courteous, prompt, and accurate IT support and solutions to corporate end users

  • Collaborate on issues with other IT technical staff when required

  • Document and maintain configuration and process information for reference and knowledge sharing

  • Provide reports as required





 


Required Skills & Experience 



  • Clearance Required: None. US citizenship required for work on DoD contracts.

  • 2+ years’ experience supporting desktop operating systems in a Microsoft Active Directory environment

  • 2+ years’ experience supporting the following software:  Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and McAfee Virus protection (or other enterprise antivirus solution)

  • 2+ years hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems

  • Experience with Apple Macintosh desktop operating systems.

  • Experience supporting Microsoft Office Applications.

  • Experience supporting desktop VPN client configuration and operations

  • Current CompTIA A+ certification or ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment


Desired Skills & Experience 



  • College Degree preferred (Bachelor’s or Associates)

  • Experience with Bomgar Remote Support Tools

  • Current CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification

  • Microsoft desktop certification (MCSA Windows 10 or Microsoft Office Specialist)

  • Apple Macintosh Support certification (ACMT or ACSP)

The proposed salary for this position is:
$52,000$78,400 USD
