About our Client:

A leader in sustainable energy production, is seeking a detail-oriented and dynamic IT Specialist to join their team. As one of the world's largest independent producers and traders of wood pellets, they play a vital role in the transition to green energy, supplying European utilities and distributors. Position Description:

As the IT Specialist, you will be instrumental in designing, building, implementing, and maintaining all IT assets for their North American offices and sites. Your role will focus on security, remote accessibility, and asset resilience, contributing to the seamless operation of their medium-sized and fast-growing biomass production and trading company. They are looking for a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic environment, values teamwork, and possesses strong technical skills to drive impactful change.

Scope and Scale of Responsibilities:
Management of IT Assets: The IT Specialist will oversee and maintain all IT assets across multiple sites within North America, including offices and production facilities. This involves ensuring the proper functioning, security, and resilience of IT infrastructure to support the company's operations.
Focus on Security and Resilience: With a focus on security, remote accessibility, and asset resilience, the IT Specialist will design, implement, and maintain IT systems to mitigate risks and ensure continuous operation of critical processes. Emphasizing the importance of safeguarding IT resources against potential threats and disruptions.
Collaboration and Relationship Building: As a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic environment and values teamwork, the IT Specialist will collaborate with various teams across Finance, Fiber Procurement, Operations, and Execution. Building strong relationships and working closely with colleagues, the IT Specialist will contribute to the development and implementation of IT solutions to support business processes and automation efforts.
Alignment with Parent Company Objectives: The IT Specialist will ensure alignment with the overall IT objectives of the parent company based in Denmark. And ensure the US voice in corporate IT decisions. This includes understanding and implementing corporate IT standards, policies, and procedures to maintain consistency and integration within the broader organization.
Key Accountabilities: Collaborate with the Parent Company in Denmark on IT architecture decisions.
Ensure secure and resilient IT infrastructure across all North American sites.
Establish and maintain secure and resilient remote connectivity across all North American sites.
Manage and maintain North American physical IT/OT assets effectively.
Partner with all departments to digitize and automate processes.
Thoroughly document all configurations, licenses, and related information.
Proactively identify and assess emerging technologies and trends relevant to the company's IT infrastructure and operations, providing recommendations for integration or adaptation as necessary.
Develop and implement robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimize downtime and ensure the uninterrupted operation of critical IT systems and services.
Conduct regular audits and assessments of IT assets, infrastructure, and systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Lead and coordinate IT-related projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments, ensuring timely completion within budget and scope.
Provide technical guidance and support to internal stakeholders on IT-related matters, serving as a subject matter expert and resource for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the IT function, implementing best practices and methodologies to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation.
Act as a liaison between the IT department and other business units, facilitating communication, collaboration, and alignment of IT initiatives with organizational goals and priorities.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required: Expertise in IT systems, encompassing a comprehensive understanding of hardware, software, and networking components.
Familiarity with Operational Technology (OT) systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) at a general level.
Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, with a preference for experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365/Dynamics.
Experience in production environments, particularly in natural resource conversion, is desirable.
Basic knowledge of production process control systems, with a keen interest in expanding expertise in this area.
Demonstrated capability to manage multiple tasks, projects, supply lines, clients, and vendors concurrently, showcasing effective multitasking abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite is essential for efficient operation within the organizational framework.
Familiarity with basic network administration, preferably with Ubiquity hardware, is advantageous.
Proficiency in IT architecture design and decision-making, particularly in collaboration with international stakeholders.
Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices, with a focus on securing IT infrastructure and remote connectivity.
Experience in asset management, including inventory tracking, maintenance schedules, and lifecycle management.
Familiarity with automation tools and technologies to support digitization and process automation efforts.
Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to accurately record configurations, licenses, and other relevant information.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively across departments.
Project management experience, including planning, execution, and resource management, to lead IT-related projects to successful completion.
Continuous learning mindset, staying updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and improvement within the organization.
Ability to travel up to 50%, predominantly domestic, with a preference for candidates interested in both domestic and international travel opportunities.
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, equivalent practical experience will be considered.
A minimum of 3 years' experience in Information Systems and manufacturing processes, demonstrating proficiency in IT operations and familiarity with manufacturing environments.
Job Demands: Location will be at the Houston TX Downtown Office, with expectation to travel to manufacturing sites in the Southeast USA as required
Flexible hours, which may require evenings and weekends depending on project timelines or other requirements
