Job Description - IT Systems Administrator and Cloud Technology Lead

IT System Administrator and Cloud Technology Lead
6 Month Contract - part time. 20-30 hours a week from 8:00am -12:00pm pst or 9:00am - 1:00pm pst
$42-55/hr
Seeking a passionate, self-motivated, candidate who will partner with the Vice President of Architecture and Engineering to support internal and external users, streamline manual processes, and maintain our cloud-based platform. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the Information Technology field, with the capability to support desktop users of Windows and macOS remotely, while possessing an awareness of the modern tools that can be used to maintain, observe, and scale our cloud-based platform as we take on additional clients and grow our team.
This is a remote role for employees located in the United States only, with preference given to candidates located in Los Angeles, CA or surrounding areas.
Responsibilities of This Role
* Providing team members and clients with daily technical support via ConnectWise ScreenConnect.
* Providing team members in Newark, NJ and Los Angeles, CA with on-site, in-person support on an as-needed basis (no more often than 2-6 times per year, arranged in advance).
* Researching, ordering, configuring, and shipping out hardware and computer equipment for use by team members.
* Provisioning new cloud resources and scaling-up existing cloud resources to accommodate new requirements and features.
* Working closely with clients, subject matter experts, and other teams to deploy instances of business-to-business applications for use by internal and external stakeholders; provision users with appropriate access to systems; propose long-term solutions to challenging, everyday problems users face while using technology; and orchestrate large transfers of data among clients and stakeholders.
* Automating technology tasks, including: deploying releases to test and production environments; provisioning user accounts and changes to roles and permissions for existing users; reporting on overall system performance and resource consumption (including disk space consumption and monthly cost); and transferring data between applications and among data centers.
* Monitoring infrastructure to ensure applications are functioning properly.
* Assisting engineering in triaging and resolving emergency issues.
* Ensuring that systems and hardware are secure and accounted for, including: conducting periodic audits of the hardware that has been deployed on-site against asset tracking databases to ensure all company assets are present and tagged; conducting periodic audits of users and their access to systems to ensure that users have the expected level of access to systems relative to audit history; implementing and promoting a culture of security awareness and accountability across all employees who use technology within the organization.
* Reporting progress daily through stand-up meetings and ticket tracking systems.
* Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies and apply them to improve our solutions.
Required Experience
* A minimum of 7 years of experience as a system administrator or IT leader, administering Windows 7/10/11 and later workstations, and Windows Server 2016 and later servers.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience managing workloads and resources in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience creating and maintaining Docker container images and workloads.
* Experience administering macOS 10.14 and later workstations.
* Experience solving IT problems by writing tools and utilities in scripting languages like Bash, PowerShell, PHP, and Python.
* Experience deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting Kubernetes 1.26+ workloads.
* A bachelor's degree or higher in Management of Information Systems, Network Security and Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; or, at least 10 years of relevant professional experience.
* A willingness to learn and use new technologies or try new approaches, as appropriate for the problems being solved.
Extra Credit
Preference will be shown for candidates who have the following additional qualifications:
* Experience working with stakeholders and/or professionals in the music and entertainment industry, especially having implemented specifications provided by such individuals.
* Experience administering Windows workstations with Microsoft Intune.
* Experience administering macOS workstations with Kandji.
* Experience working with Kustomize-based Kubernetes deployments.
* Experience scaling on-premises and cloud storage solutions beyond 500 TB.
* Possessing one or more professional system administration, IT, or IT security certifications.
* Experience implementing a security awareness training program.
* Experience administering Cisco Meraki networks.
* Experience administering Synology NAS and Qumulo storage solutions.
* Experience with the Atlassian product suite.
* Experience with older, unsupported architectures like Windows 98 and Mac OS 8 (as needed to support archival and cataloging of client data from old machines).
