IT Systems Manager

The IT Systems Manager owns the day-to-day reliability of Stukent's IT systems and drives the planning and execution needed to mature our processes. This role combines hands-on troubleshooting and support with the ability to independently plan, scope, and execute larger projects, evaluate technology needs and recommend solutions, and work closely with the security team to strengthen our overall security posture.

 Location: This position is on-site based in Idaho Falls, Idaho.  

Typical Job Duties

Support & Operations

• Serve as a senior point of contact for IT support, handling escalations that go beyond basic troubleshooting and require independent analysis and judgement.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
• Install, configure, maintain, and repair desktops, laptops, peripherals, and software across the organization.
• Provision and deprovision user accounts, devices, and access as part of onboarding and offboarding.
• Ensure operating systems, applications, and security patches stay current across the environment and identify priorities for remediation.

Security

• Participate as a member of the Security Incident Response team; conduct research and analysis into incident issues and scope; make recommendations on steps to contain, mitigate, and restore user access relevant to incidents.
• Partner with the security team on endpoint protection, identity and access controls, and security best practices and recommend improvements where appropriate.

Planning & Projects

• Build and maintain a rolling IT roadmap that lays out priorities, projects, and maturity improvements based on organizational needs, risks, and competing priorities.
• Plan, scope, and execute IT projects from start to finish (tooling rollouts, system upgrades, process improvements) determining appropriate approaches and solutions.
• Evaluate and recommend new tools, vendors, and processes to improve IT operations considering factors such as cost, functionality, security, risk, and organizational needs.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain and improve internal documentation, knowledge base, and support procedures.
• Track and report on IT support metrics and project status and use trends to recommend process or technology improvements.
• Perform other IT-related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

• Occasional availability outside standard hours may be required for critical system issues or security incidents. This is rare and not a standing on-call rotation.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of experience in IT support or systems administration, including time owning projects in addition to working tickets
• Strong working knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems
• Experience administering common productivity and SaaS platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace)
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute IT projects independently, from scoping through completion
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical options and make recommendations based on business and operational needs 
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work directly with leadership and communicate across technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to balance day-to-day support work with longer-term project work and shifting priorities and independently prioritize work based on business needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with identity and device management tools (e.g., Azure AD, Intune, Jamf, MDM solutions)
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Familiarity with security frameworks and practices, such as endpoint protection and identity management
• Experience with ticketing systems and ITSM practices
• Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Apple, etc.)
