Job Overview
A leading healthcare organization is seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to join its Diagnostic Imaging team in Lewes, Delaware.
The Interventional Radiology Technologist will assist physicians with a wide range of image-guided procedures while serving in circulating, scrub, and patient-monitoring roles. This position requires strong radiologic and cardiovascular knowledge, excellent procedural skills, and the ability to provide safe, compassionate care to a diverse patient population.
The selected technologist will operate and maintain interventional imaging equipment, monitor patients during procedures, assist with moderate sedation, and help ensure the department operates safely and efficiently. Participation in a rotating on-call schedule is required.
Responsibilities
Assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures
Review patient histories, laboratory results, clinical information, and procedural orders
Confirm patient identity using established patient-safety protocols
Explain procedures to patients and families and address questions within the technologist's scope
Serve in circulating, scrub technologist, and patient-monitoring roles
Prepare sterile fields, instruments, catheters, guidewires, medications, and procedural supplies
Anticipate physician needs throughout procedures
Select appropriate imaging and injection parameters
Operate interventional radiology and fluoroscopic imaging equipment
Monitor patient vital signs and clinical status during procedures
Administer moderate sedation according to hospital policies and physician direction
Administer additional medications under the direct supervision of the physician when appropriate
Document medications, sedation, patient assessments, and procedural details accurately
Provide appropriate radiation protection for patients, staff, and self
Adjust technical factors to minimize radiation exposure while maintaining image quality
Complete image post-processing and MRA 3D reconstruction
Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately to emergency situations
Initiate code procedures, first aid, or CPR when required
Coordinate procedure scheduling and communicate schedule changes to team members
Maintain daily procedural logs and complete patient follow-up activities
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and quality-control testing on assigned equipment
Report equipment concerns promptly to the appropriate personnel
Maintain medication, crash-cart, and emergency supply readiness
Monitor inventory levels and remove expired medications and procedural supplies
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all departmental and organizational policies
Qualifications
Required
Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field
Current ARRT certification as a Registered Radiologic Technologist, ARRT(R)
Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
Strong understanding of radiologic procedures, cardiovascular anatomy, and patient monitoring
Knowledge of electronic health records and clinical documentation
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to remain composed and effective during emergencies and crisis situations
Ability to provide excellent service to patients, families, visitors, and clinical team members
Ability to maintain confidential patient and employee information
Ability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule
Ability to wear a lead apron for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to push or pull equipment weighing up to 150 pounds
