Janitor

Duties and responsibilities

• Enter and work in internally confined spaces.


• Manipulate and transport loads up to 25-35 pounds.


• Approximately 6 times during each 8-hour shift.


• Act as a courier to deliver material to job sites.


• Operate forklift as needed.


• Traverse and negotiate uneven heights between dock and vessel.


• Traverse and negotiate uneven surfaces.          


• Ascend and work at heights of up to 40 feet.


• Push a lawnmower and operate a weed eater.

Critical Demands

• Balance and strength to climb 40 ft.


• Repetitive forward bending, rotation of the trunk, and flexing of the hips and the knees.


• Lifting no greater than 50 lbs. from floor to 6 ft. work surface unassisted.


• Repetitive upper extremity movements while cleaning.

Working Conditions

• Work is outdoors or marine vessels. There is no air conditioning or heating. 


• Uneven surfaces throughout job site, with sand, limestone, concrete, and railways outside, as well as concrete and railways inside. Numerous trip hazards throughout.
