Planned Companies – Groundskeeper – Job Description
Total: 36.5 hours during the week.
Summary
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, and overall condition of the property's exterior grounds and common outdoor areas. This role helps ensure the community remains safe, attractive, and welcoming for residents, guests, and visitors. The Groundskeeper performs routine landscaping, grounds maintenance, and property upkeep while identifying and reporting any safety concerns, maintenance issues, or property damage.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all exterior grounds, walkways, parking areas, and common spaces
- Perform routine landscaping duties, including mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, weeding, and watering
- Remove litter, debris, leaves, and other waste from the property on a regular basis
- Maintain flower beds, shrubs, trees, and other landscaping features
- Assist with seasonal property maintenance, including snow removal, ice treatment, leaf collection, and storm cleanup as needed
- Inspect grounds regularly and report safety hazards, property damage, or maintenance concerns to management
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner
- Clean and maintain outdoor amenities such as playgrounds, patios, courtyards, dog parks, and recreational areas
- Assist with property beautification projects and landscaping improvements
- Support maintenance staff with exterior-related tasks and special projects as needed
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with residents, guests, vendors, and team members
Requirements:
- Previous groundskeeping, landscaping, property maintenance, or related experience preferred
- Knowledge of landscaping equipment, tools, and basic horticultural practices
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining property appearance
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- Ability to follow directions and prioritize tasks effectively
