Job Title: Java Software Architect
Place of Performance: WA Harriman Campus, Building 8, Albany, NY 12227 (Hybrid: Eligible for 40% remote after 4 months on-site, pending approval)
Minimum Experience: 7+ Years
Rate: $67/ hr - $72/hr
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 30 Months

Position Overview:
We are seeking an Expert Software Architect to lead the modernization of complex legacy systems that support critical financial and data processing operations. The selected professional will guide the technical strategy, collaborate across development teams, and ensure optimal system performance, scalability, and maintainability through high-quality architecture and development practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the technical design and implementation of enterprise-level modernization projects
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align system solutions with business objectives
Develop and maintain software systems supporting both legacy and modern components
Design, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries and database operations
Coordinate and support integration and user acceptance testing
Analyze production issues, propose system fixes, and implement solutions
Document software designs and draft detailed technical specifications
Conduct system analysis and translate business requirements into technical plans
Provide mentorship to junior team members and ensure adherence to best practices
Optimize performance of applications interacting with databases

Qualifications:

Minimum 7 years of experience with J2EE technologies including EJB, JDBC, JSP, and XML
Minimum 7 years of Java programming experience in an IBM development environment (RAD, WebSphere)
Minimum 7 years of experience with IBM DB2 and XML schema development
Minimum 7 years of experience with system analysis and design for transactional, multi-tiered systems
Minimum 5 years of experience with IBM MQSeries
Minimum 5 years of experience in performance tuning of database-driven applications
Minimum 5 years of experience in system design, development, maintenance, and support in large organizations
Minimum 3 years of experience working with government or public sector systems, including design and support
