Job Description - (Job RF -1128) Director 3 - Custodial Operations

Ash & Harris Executive Search is looking for a Director of Custodial Operations (K-12)

Overview:
We are seeking a Director to lead custodial, grounds, and maintenance operations for a K-12 school district in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, building a strong team, and fostering a trusted partnership with the client to ensure a safe, clean, and healthy learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall management and supervision for the custodial operations account, with some oversight of grounds and maintenance.
  • Lead, develop, and build a dynamic and diverse operational team, focusing on staff development and career growth.
  • Manage the business's operational and fiscal performance, including budgeting, financial reporting, and controls.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client relations, interfacing with all levels of client leadership to build a strong, trusting partnership.
  • Ensure a high level of service and customer satisfaction throughout the entire school district.
  • Oversee project management and capital planning initiatives.
  • Drive strong business results and strive to support the client in optimizing their operations.

Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) or related certification is a plus.

Experiences

  • Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in Facilities Management.
  • Proven experience in a K-12 or higher education setting is highly preferred, with a strong emphasis on custodial operations management.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and capital planning.
  • Proven track record of stellar client management and customer service.
  • Experience with custodial operations, including floor care and related equipment.

  • Exceptional customer service, relationship building, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage and communicate with all levels of employees and clients, including executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen with a solid understanding of budgeting and financial controls.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on team building and staff development.
