IN Compass Health is building our hospital-based palliative care service at AnMed Medical Center in Anderson, South Carolina. AnMed is a 461-bed, not-for-profit Hospital serving the Upstate South Carolina area since 1908.
With our Palliative care team we want our providers to never leave a shift wondering whether you gave that family the conversation they needed, or felt rushed through a goals-of-care meeting that deserved more. IN Compass understands the importance of palliative care and its impact on the lives of those involved.
What Makes This Role Different
- Monday through Friday, 8-hour days. No nights, no weekends, no call.
- An average of 5 encounters per day. We've built the caseload around the reality of palliative work — family meetings that run long, symptom management that requires nuance, and the emotional bandwidth this specialty demands.
- A true interdisciplinary team. You'll work alongside palliative physicians, chaplaincy, social work, and nursing — not in parallel, but together.
- Protected time for what matters — documentation, debriefing, and the conversations that don't fit neatly into an encounter.
What You'll Do
- Complex symptom management
- Goals-of-care conversations with patients and families
- Code status discussions, advance care planning, and POLST/MOLST completion
- Family meetings, including those involving complex dynamics or surrogate decision-making
- Coordination of transitions to home hospice, inpatient hospice, or palliative-supported discharge
- Prognostic support and education for primary teams
What We're Looking For
- Active South Carolina licensure as an NP (FNP, AGNP, or AGACNP) or PA-C
- DEA registration (or eligibility)
- Strong communication skills, especially around serious illness and end-of-life conversations
- Comfort working autonomously within a collaborative team
