Job Title:  Journeyman Line Technician

Location:       North Baldwin  

Description of Responsibilities:

·         To construct and maintain energized overhead and underground distribution lines effectively and efficiently.

·         Read and understand geographical maps, staking sheets, specification sheets, complex diagrams, and all                    circuits in the system.

·         Prepare and set poles for new service.

·         Restore power safely and efficiently.

·         Repair outdoor lights and install secondary arrestors.

·         Assist with line construction.

·         Assist with switching procedures when necessary.

·         Perform the duty of stand-by or on-call in rotation with other crew members.

·         Perform work duties of crew chief and service technician in their absence.

Minimum Requirements:

·         High School Diploma or equivalent.

·         Must have a minimum of five years prior experience with operations of an electrical distribution system.

·         Must be proficient in troubleshooting both OH and UG distribution electric systems.

·         Ability to interact courteously and professionally with the public and to establish and maintain cooperative                  working relationships with those contacted during work.

·         Knowledge of work methods, occupational hazards, and safety codes for performing line crew operations and            maintenance work.

·         Use software applications such as work order systems, Microsoft Office programs, and smart devices.

·         Valid Class A CDL and driver's license required.

·         Must have or receive CPR and First Aid certification.

Working Conditions:

·         Work is performed primarily outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions.

·         Position requires competing demands; may require occasional work beyond regular business hours.

·         Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment.
