Journeyman Outside Machinist

Position Summary:

Talent Source is seeking experienced Outside Machinist Journeymen for shipyard assignments in San Diego, CA. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of ship propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and fluid systems supporting naval and commercial vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair diesel, gas turbine, and steam propulsion systems.

  
  


• 
  

  Perform maintenance and repairs on pumps, compressors, purifiers, heat exchangers, actuators, and valves.

  
  


• 
  

  Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble mechanical equipment and shipboard machinery.

  
  


• 
  

  Conduct testing and operational checks to ensure equipment meets specifications and performance requirements.

  
  


• 
  

  Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and repair references.

  
  


• 
  

  Utilize precision measuring instruments and mechanical hand tools.

  
  


• 
  

  Support shipboard equipment installations and maintenance activities.

  
  


• 
  

  Work independently while maintaining safety and quality standards.

  
  

Required Qualifications:

• 
  

  Minimum 5 years of journeyman marine, naval, or shipyard experience preferred.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience working on ship propulsion systems and auxiliary machinery.

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and repair manuals.

  
  


• 
  

  Proficient with precision measuring tools and mechanical hand tools.

  
  


• 
  

  Must be at least 18 years old.

  
  


• 
  

  Must be eligible to obtain military base access.

  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• 
  

  Marine Hydraulics experience.

  
  


• 
  

  Prior U.S. Navy or military mechanical experience.

  
  

Salary Range: $27.04–$50.27 per hour
