Job Description - JPEO CBRND Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)

The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) position supports an Army and joint stakeholder customer. This role will focus on providing oversight and system security engineering services to ensure the secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of customer-developed and deployed systems and networks. The ISSE will support the customer to ensure core security engineering principles are implemented into the assigned program's information systems architecture.

This position is in Edgewood, MD, and requires high co-location with the client (Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND). The JPEO-CBRND leads, manages, and directs the acquisition, fielding, and sustainment of CBRN sensors, protective equipment, medical countermeasures, specialized equipment for U.S. Special Forces, integration and information management systems, and defense-enabling biotechnologies. The organization also works closely with various government agencies that need CBRN defense equipment.

The ISSO responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Managing and coordinating Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) expertise and support for Authorization to Operate (ATO) activities in support of client requirements. The role will include augmenting/supporting ISSE functions, serving as a liaison for the ISSM, and collaborating with client stakeholders to ensure the timely and accurate submission of deliverables.
Perform Risk Management Framework (RMF) assessment and authorization (A&A) activities in support of the client which include systems security artifact development such as risk assessment reports, system security plans, etc.
Perform analysis and evaluation to design, implement, test and field secure systems, networks, and architectures.
Conduct certification and testing in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) policy; identify deficiencies and provide recommendations of risk mitigation to customers.
The position requires a background in supporting DoD RMF processes and experience with the DoD eMASS to support the processing of A&A deliverables and associated requirements. Experience with DoD-related security testing tools such as Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), STIG Viewer, Tenable Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), etc.

Location: Best fit candidate is for high colocation at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG South), Edgewood Area (EA), Maryland. Professionals located near Army JPEO locations (e.g., Huntsville, San Diego, New Jersey, Detroit, Los Angeles, Orlando) will also be considered.

Role Requirements: A master's degree in a specialized field plus a minimum of 1 year of applicable experience; or a bachelor's degree in the specialized field plus 7 years of applicable experience; or a bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of 9 years of specialized experience.
