Houston Precision Fasteners produces high strength, close tolerance, fatigue rated fasteners using materials such as alloy steel, 718, titanium, waspaloy, A-286 and multiphase. Our fasteners support most current space programs as well as our nations fleet of military aircraft and weapon systems. Job purpose: The Junior Buyer will be responsible for ensuring our production team has the materials and supplies needed to maintain our rigorous manufacturing schedule. You will work closely with production planners, quality control, and external vendors to manage the lifecycle of purchase orders (POs).

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

• Process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders for raw materials, hardware, shop supplies, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) items.
• Supplier Coordination: Contact vendors to obtain price quotes, check material availability, and confirm delivery schedules.
• Expediting: Proactively track open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery; escalate potential delays to the Purchasing Supervisor or Production Manager.
• Data Integrity: Maintain accurate records in the ERP system, including vendor contact information, pricing, and part specifications.
• Collaboration: Work with the Shipping/Receiving department to resolve discrepancies between packing slips, invoices, and purchase orders.
• Compliance: Ensure all purchasing activities adhere to company policies and industry-specific regulations (e.g., AS9100 standards).

Qualifications & Skills:

• High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, or a related field is a plus.
• 0–2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or administrative support within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, data entry) and experience with ERP/MRP systems is highly desired.
• Ability to manage high volumes of data with extreme accuracy—a "get it right the first time" mentality.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for negotiating with vendors and collaborating with internal teams.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

• Must be able to work on-site at our Houston facility.
• Occasional presence on the manufacturing floor (exposure to moderate noise and industrial machinery) to coordinate with production leads.
