The Junior Buyer / Materials Coordinator supports Rocket’s Materials and Supply Chain operations by assisting with purchasing activities, tracking material availability, and coordinating information flow to support production schedules. This role works closely with Buyers, Planners, Program Managers, the Stockroom, and Suppliers to help ensure materials are ordered, tracked, and available when needed. It’s a great entry-level opportunity for someone looking to grow within supply chain or materials management in a manufacturing environment.
Assist Buyers with issuing purchase orders for production materials, consumables, and services.
Follow up with suppliers to confirm pricing, lead times, order status, and delivery commitments.
Support expediting efforts for critical or late materials impacting production schedules.
Maintain routine supplier communication regarding order updates, discrepancies, and inquiries.
Track material status for open purchase orders, shortages, and upcoming production builds.
Assist with resolving receiving discrepancies, invoice mismatches, and RMA coordination as needed.
Support the NCMR process by gathering data, updating logs, and following up on dispositions.
Coordinate with the stockroom and production teams to help maintain accurate material visibility.
Maintain accurate data in ERP/MRP systems, including part numbers, pricing, lead times, and order notes.
Run and maintain materials-related reports for Buyers, Planners, and Program Management.
Monitor min/max inventory levels and notify appropriate team members when replenishment is required.
Support additional materials or supply chain tasks as needed to meet business and operational requirements.
0–2 years of experience in purchasing, materials, supply chain, or a related role (manufacturing experience preferred).
Basic understanding of ERP/MRP systems.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow up in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Experience in electronics manufacturing or a similar production environment.
Familiarity with purchasing terminology, supplier lead times, and inventory control concepts.
Exposure to NCMR, RMA, and min/max inventory processes.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout office and production areas.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
