Junior Developer – DMDC Enterprise Architecture

Aderas is seeking a motivated Junior Developer to support the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) Enterprise Architecture (EA) program. The Junior Developer will work alongside senior developers, systems architects, data professionals, and enterprise architects to support development, automation, integration, and sustainment activities within the DMDC Enterprise Architecture environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career developer who wants to gain hands-on experience supporting a large Department of Defense enterprise environment while developing skills in application development, enterprise architecture, systems integration, data management, automation, and DevSecOps practices.

The successful candidate will be comfortable learning new technologies, troubleshooting technical issues, working with structured data, and collaborating with both technical and functional team members.

Responsibilities

The Junior Developer will support activities that may include:

• Develop, enhance, test, and maintain software components and utilities supporting the DMDC Enterprise Architecture environment.
• Assist senior developers and architects with application development and technical solution implementation.
• Support development and automation associated with the DMDC Enterprise Architecture repository and related tools.
• Assist with integrations and data exchanges between Enterprise Architecture tools and other DMDC enterprise systems.
• Develop scripts, utilities, APIs, or other automation to reduce manual architecture and data-management activities.
• Support data import, export, transformation, validation, and synchronization activities.
• Assist with development and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and architecture visualizations.
• Support the administration, configuration, troubleshooting, testing, patching, and upgrading of EA-related software under the direction of senior team members.
• Assist with troubleshooting application, integration, repository, and data issues.
• Participate in technical design sessions and architecture reviews.
• Work with senior architects to understand business, application, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity architecture requirements.
• Support development teams in following DMDC software development lifecycle processes, technical standards, and enterprise architecture guidance.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, design documentation, and implementation notes.
• Support testing activities including unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and defect resolution.
• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback from senior developers and architects.
• Support configuration management and version-control processes.
• Assist with identification and implementation of process improvements and automation opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with Government personnel, Aderas team members, subcontractors, and other DMDC development teams.
• Perform other development and technical support activities associated with the DMDC Enterprise Architecture program.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field; relevant technical experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Approximately 0–3 years of software development or related technical experience.
• Foundational understanding of object-oriented programming and software development concepts.
• Experience with or academic exposure to Java or similar object-oriented programming languages.
• Basic understanding of databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, web services, or system-to-system integrations.
• Understanding of source-control tools such as Git.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems and work through issues methodically.
• Ability to document technical work clearly.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary technical team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and development frameworks.

Security Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be able to meet DMDC personnel security and background investigation requirements.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Government system/network access and Common Access Card (CAC).
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the security eligibility required for the position and assigned duties.
