The Junior Production Planner is an entry-level planning role responsible for supporting production scheduling, material flow, ERP accuracy, and daily production reporting. This position works closely with Production Planners, Buyers, Inventory Control, and Shop Floor Supervisors to support product availability, identify material or schedule constraints, and help maintain accurate production information.
This role follows established procedures and supports foundational production planning activities. The position is designed to develop knowledge of production scheduling, material requirements, on-time production processes, and customer delivery expectations while building readiness for future progression into a Planner I role.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Maintain ERP data related to work orders, material status, routing updates, and production changes.
Assist in preparing daily and weekly production reports for Planners, Production, and other cross-functional teams.
Communicate material shortages, availability risks, and basic schedule concerns to Buyers and Planning team members.
Support schedule updates under the direction of senior Planners or Planning leadership.
Attend daily action meetings to understand current production plans, priorities, and operational challenges.
Document production changes and maintain accurate logs, records, and planning documentation.
Work with Inventory Control to understand component availability, material movement needs, and support required for assembly and work centers.
Assist in resolving basic material, work order, or schedule discrepancies.
Support production on-time performance and customer delivery objectives through accurate data entry, follow-up, and communication.
Follow all company safety, quality, operational, and compliance procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
0 to 2 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, supply chain support, manufacturing, inventory control, or a related operational support role.
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, production flow, or material movement preferred.
Ability to follow established procedures and escalate issues appropriately.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Basic written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally with Planning, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Production teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
Experience using ERP, APS, or MRP systems preferred.
Prior experience in a manufacturing or shop floor support environment preferred.
Exposure to production reporting, inventory transactions, or work order management preferred.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements
This position operates in both office and manufacturing environments. The role may require time on the shop floor, participation in production meetings, and interaction with manufacturing personnel. The employee must follow all required safety procedures when working in or around production areas.
